At the risk of repeating myself....... Local parts prices!
« on: October 19, 2010, 09:03:19 AM »
It's not that I'm a whinger, really  ;) but here's another instance of imbalance in local (Aussie) & offshore pricing.

Dyna ignition coils. This example for 3Ω coils.
Z1 = $126 USD
http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=210
ZPower Australia $269.95 AUD
http://www.zpower.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?currency=AUD&cPath=440&products_id=663

Currently the Aussie $ nearly matches the US so I have to wonder why such a difference.
Even with shipping Z1 has to win don't you think?
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.

Warning: Boring Economic Theory follows!

Exchange rates do not represent purchasing power, as explained by the Theory of Purchasing Power Parity:

In the Pacific Rim and Europe the dollar isn't as strong as it used to be over seas, but I can buy a lot with it here in the states!

More than double the cost is just pathetic. I see a lot of these parts suppliers here going broke, haven't they heard of the internet..?
I was talking to a parts guy recently here and when i told him how much i pay for my parts online he called me a liar......To that i added , "now there are 2 reasons i don't buy from you"...... ;D ;D
