Shameless plug - New content 12/4/10
« on: August 29, 2010, 07:39:49 AM »
New articles up, to those of you who like to read it but aren't interested in remembering to do so on your own...

http://www.behindbarsmotorcycle.com/

It's supposed to be easy reading bike life stuff. I'd appreciate feedback here or on the blog itself if you read it, I'm looking to improve my style.

Sorry, that cool cat probably wouldn't appreciate it all too much. He lives relatively close and sometimes I even see him in the neighborhood, sputtering around, chopped seat and milk crate luggage strapped to the back... I've actually run into the house and shut the door when I've heard that bike coming down the cul de sac a couple of times since that happened.

Brady, I think the writing style is pretty good; easy to follow, interesting narrative.
Enough tangents to keep us guessing, but not so many as to completely distract from the main vein of the story.

As the owner of a 1984 Shadow 700, I can totally relate to the 'Vacation' segment.

Thanks, Kframe, that's great to hear. I really appreciate the input, and it seems honest, in spite of the fact that it's positive ;) I'm looking for input. That vacation story was pretty fun. My dad just up and bought a bike one day without telling anyone he was going to do it. He just slipped telling me between two other pieces of information. It's fun to have something in common with my old man, finally.

I know a guy like that. Putting cut off milk jug with duct tape for hand guards so that his hands don't get cold.

I saw him again just the other day driving the other direction, grinning like his brains were leaking out. I put an update on the blog, btw, not that anyone thinks it's worth checking back with, but... this plug is supposed to be shameless.

Hey man,

Have you ever submitted one of your writings to a maazine?  I read your entire blog, and would say that your writing style and content belongs in "Motorcyclist".  Nice work!

Hey man, thanks! I haven't submitted to any motorcycle magazines as of yet, but really would like to. I would love to get published and all that. I'll check more into motorcyclist, I so far have subscriptions to cycle world and the ama motorcycle magazine. I appreciate the input. I don't update all that often since it takes a while to get decent stuff written. Check back though!

Still shameless. I put up some new trip stuff, feel free to check it out, it's also over in the trip report section of the forum... but I don't think that's the most seen section. I'll probably keep on shamelessly self promoting until someone says, "Hey you!" or something like that. Maybe even after that.

Good blog, i like the style.

If there was one thing I would do different is try to put up new stuff more often. People like blogs that they can check every day for new stuff. I understand it's a lot of work to publish a well written piece every few days, so maybe you could find a fellow writer /motorcyclist to form a team.

I don't mean to tell you what to do, it's your blog afteralll, but it was just a suggestion.

I would love to, but it took me like 6 or 8 hours to write the last thing posted. Not everything takes that long, but it does take a while. Once I get past like 20 things it shouldn't matter as much because people can read the backlog. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I can use it as a springboard and get published somewhere for real.

Keep up the good work! I agree that I would love to see updates more frequently but I also understand the time thing.

Back at it, it's been a week, but I've been sick. Getting printed IRL, in a mag... pretty cool.
