The seat conundrum
« on: February 19, 2014, 03:59:47 PM »
So I got a 1979 cb650 Im slowly trying to caffeinate. So of course Im going to need a "cafe" styled seat. Im looking for a bolt on kinda job, something I can attach directly to my existing frame with out a whole lot of "customization". I do like the cowl tail style seats that are out there but also like some of the original cb seats not so much the formed ones, the more plain Jane flat, non-humped ones. Have any of you guys had any luck with a seat that kinda falls between the two. Im open to anything. Are there any good websites out there that specialize in cafe seats for hondas?

I also heard that they have like seat conversion kits where you use the existing pan and foam.

The problem with cafe seats is most of them require that the frame be cut and have a cafe hoop fit. There is an eBay seller that makes some different style cafe seats using the stock seat pan but then you lose the space in the cowl to relocate your battery and electronics into. Customizing these bikes requires a fair bit of trade offs.
