1978 cb750f front end fit on 1973k? Carbs?
« on: November 15, 2011, 07:03:26 PM »
Does anyone know if a 1978f front end will work in a 1973k? I want to use the triple trees  on the 73 and slide the 78f forks in.
I'm sure someone has tried it with success or failure.

Also
Has anyone tried using stock 1978 cb750f carbs on a early K model? (1973)

Thanks for any help anyone may be able to provide!
Mike

Yes...........with some mods to the wheel/axle spacers and brakes.  Not easy.

Yes...........the carbs will swap if you change all components............including the air-tubes.

Thanks for the reply Old Scrambler !
After reading on a different thread about how much of a hassle it would be to put the 78F front end on the 73K,and a PM from a more expirenced SOHC member,Ive decided against doing that.

I am still very interested in using 78F carbs on the 73k.  What do you mean by changing all the componants? I don't have a stock set to change componants from. If I had a set of 78f's what would I have to obtain to make them work on the 73K?

Thanks!

To fit the 78 carbs to the 73 engine you need...

The carbs of course, with all 3 cables {the pull, the "push" cable and the choke cable (as the choke on those carbs is cable operated)}.  Then you will also need the intake rubbers for those carbs as well, the are different then the 73 intakes.  They are shorter with different bends, and are pretty much impossible to find.

However there is a company reproducing them...

So if I bought a 750f parts bike that came with all the things you mentioned, the carbs would run ok and away I ride?
