Aussie Dollar kicks Greenback's Arse!
« on: October 22, 2010, 10:07:10 AM »
Hey I've just discovered that according to Paypal, the Aussie dollar is worth more that the US greenback? I was sent 115 bucks by a member here, (thanks Ben) and after Paypal raped me for their blood money fees, I was left with 110.79 US, which is only apparently 109.90 AUD now?

Bloody hell, when I first started EBaying, the Aussie dollar was only worth 59 US cents! So at the moment, it's a good time to buy stuff from the US, but not a good time to selll! Oooh, but it might be time for a cheap US vacation! Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Won't be long before most currencies are worth more than the USD.
It’s soon to be the “NEW” North American pesos.

Terry, feel free to come right over and bring a suitcase full of Aussie Dollars, which is the point. The weaker US Dollar makes American exports more attractive and imports less attractive. That means that whatever factories we have left will be able to increase production and hire more people. It also means Americans will find domestically produced items cheaper than imports. So my friends around the World, BUY AMERICAN we need the money. American wheat is the cheapest in the World now. So we grow more, they grow less and we control their food supply. Clever bunch those Yanks.  ;D ;D ;D

One thing I learned in Macro Econ (long time ago  ::)) is that if you push here, it pops there. What you say is true enough, but one less desireable side affect is oil trades are settled in USD, for now  :-\, so when the dollar weakens, oil prices go up.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Can remember back in 1967-68-69 when I was in Perth and Northwest Cape the Aussie dollar was worth 135 to 100 for the green-back, Good on ya mate

Yep, I remember in 1974 when my folks took me on my "European Vacation" one Aussie dollar could buy two US dollars, so it's not the first time this has happened, but I can't help but fear that the Aussie hasn't quite hit parity yet, but rather, I just got screwed by Paypal again! >:( ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

I know where there is a Yamaha TX750 for sale.  For a slight handling charge I can send it your way, just send me the money. ;D

I know you like the XS500 and there is a 76 for sale locally with 2100 miles for $550.

Yep, I remember when my Uncle Sam took me on and "Asian" vacation and 10 American dollars could buy a woman for the night. At least that is what I was told, could have been just a rumor.

Woohoo! Send me some pics mate? I love those old Yams, but I shouldn't, I remember watching a shiny new TX750 idling on it's centre stand outside the dealership when I was a kid, it vibrated so bad it moved itself across the sidewalk and fell into the gutter! I had an early TX500 in 1976, it was actually a pretty cool bike, they had a well deserved reputation for overheating and leaking oil, but it was a great bike to ride, I'd have another one!  ;D

Terry
here is the CL link for the XS500
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/mcy/2001874343.html

Pics of the 74 TX750.  Too bad about the mufflers but it runs and the price is $350 with 12k on the clock.  I have been actually thinking about it.  Am I nuts? ;D   From my understanding the 74's had the bugs worked out.  Seldom see 74's  for sale but I see 73's at least once a month around here.  Surprising how many are still out there running.

Mate, I'd buy both of those bikes in a heartbeat! I've never ridden a TX750 but I'd love to, and the 500 on CL is the "improved" model with revised head and oiling system, and I believe that they were very reliable, but they had a bad name by 1976 and production ceased shortly afterwards. Which one should you buy if you can only buy one? Hmmmnnn, the 750 I reckon, it'll be collectable in years to come, for sure! Cheers, Terry. ;D

If you make it to NYC, I will get some couples together and we do a eating and drinking tour of Manhattan. We have one rule, everyone laughs.
