digital speedometer/tachometer
« on: October 25, 2010, 02:35:26 PM »
Hey Guys. Anyone recently tried using one of the digital, computerized gauges? I did a search and couldn't find anything in last couple of years. I am currently trying to research the Trail Tech Vapor unit and the Acewell 1500. The more advanced models are out of my price range. Mainly want to hear someone review them for performance and ease of installation on a 750. Thanks

Your old ones up and die or are you just looking to upgrade?

Any of the electronic speedos will work.  Most work with a senosr and rare earth magnet.  Yeah you simply mount the sensor close to a place with a bolt that revoles at the speed of the rear or front wheel.  You drill the head of one bolt and press in a rare earth magnet and you are good to go.

My stock gauges work.........sort of. I don't really trust their accuracy. I am fascinated by the electronic toys especially after seeing videos of them. I just don't want to spend a lot of bucks and then find I can't install them correctly ( that is, to receive their full potential).
Apparently, I'll have to wait until more members have seen this.

Most of the electronic speedos have a equation that utilizes the circumference of the rear or front wheel, allowing endless calibration adjustments.

I appreciate the responses, but I am going to bump this one time in hopes that someone who has tried one of the two products I first mentioned will respond with info on how it went for them. Thanks
