'75 CB550
« on: November 01, 2010, 07:40:44 AM »
Hello fromm western Wisconsin, USA, where the riding season is drawing to a close.  My only running bike right now is a 1968 Honda CT-90, but over the long winter I hope to change that, as I just acquired a 1975 CB550, in run-down but restorable condition.  It has not started in nearly a decade, but everything is present and in apparently sound shape.  The tank is terribly rusty and in need of repainting, and I am investigating the de-rusting methods that several members here have used.  Hoping to get it running before it becomes too cold to work in the garage.  Thanks in advance for all the knowledge I will gain here!

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride. . .

Welcome DB22

You're right about there being a wealth of info on this site, somebody, somewhere has been there & done that, etc.  I wouldn't worry too much about the Honda engine sitting for 10 years, mine was down for 24 & needed very little to get running.  Enjoy your project & good luck!
