Another one buffaloed!    LOL     We changed Adams plus redid the cam chain adjuster. I was in wrong out of the slot. When we got it together the carbs were trashed so he was getting pretty frustrated.  Funny I had worked on this bike with the previous owner also.   Got it pretty good now.  Still a little rough at Idle but has the great 650 topend.

Here is my process for pulling out the Stater Clutch....
-to make life easier pull mufflers off(there are a few bolts that are hard to get to with these still attached)
-DRAIN OIL
-Drop oil pan
-remove oil sump
-remove clutch cables
-remove clutch cover
-remove clutch (four bolts in center with springs)
-Remove all metal plates (bolts circled)

-Remove Shifting Rod (take off foot shifter on other side, pull rod through clutch side; s.clutch will not drop with this not removed)

- pull or push~underneath~ main shaft out

- peering thourgh hole, one can see the three botls that keep s.clutch assembly together. Remove these 3 and the assembly will fall apart. Will not come out as one piece(NOTE: Leave hub! When putting back in...go hub first, then clutch and gear as one. Will not go any other way.
Mine was broke...bolts backed out and left groves...had to drill and retap holes & smooth out hub...got new rollers and springs & bolts from CMS for $45
Pic of the damage done to my hub

Hope the pics help...i was intimadated when i started but once i got going it was as easy as a childs puzzle. Keep all parts together so not to lose anything. I put mine in a tote that stayed beside me while fending off my stickey fingered 3 year old  ;D
If i missed anything feel free to chime it!

The starter clutch parts you need (assuming the gear ring isn't damaged) can be purchased from honda for cheap. there are three springs, three caps, and three rollers. usually the springs get soft and this it what prevents the clutch from engaging in the right direction.

Alright!!!!
Finially got some time to work on it....
Ok...so after finding out that my tank looks like swiss cheese...i got sportster tank for $20 off the craigslist....minus the petcock..got to find one of those for it..shouldn't be a big deal!

-Took the starter clutch back out and sent some part to a friend to see if he can machine some extras for me....

- Was watching wal-mart for the past 2 weeks because  the "Works" has been on recall and the last time i put "harveys rust eater" in a tank it came out holier that the pope! So dulling it down with the works this time. Just got 2 bottles today!

And it is snowing in TN right now...so here to hoping the roads are shut down tomorrow so i can stay home and pull the carbs....

Nice, but if it doesn't somehow light on fire and/or cause the breakup of a marriage when you're done, I'm gonna be disappointed. :)

That's an emulsion tube.  You might still be able to get one from a Honda dealer.
