Jack in the box two deep fried tacos for $0.99US. They were even better when those people died of salmonella poisoning in the 90's- 3 for $0.99US. I was eating that #$%* for breakfast, lunch and dinner in college.

I was a serial take-away, pre-cooked meal eater until about 7 years ago when I realised I couldn't get up 2 short flights of stairs without my heart beating wildly and panting like a wounded rhino.
Since then, much to my colleagues amusement, it's been freshly cooked food only for lunch and dinner.

And i bet you feel better for it too....

Interesting that your colleagues would find it funny although, my Dad was from Newcastle upon Tyne so when i was young we had a very different diet, baked meals with Yorkshire pudding, fish and chips and pork pies and the like, not that it was too bad but i am glad i learned to cook at an early age...You cant beat fresh food, both for taste and your health...

All things in moderation, including fast food.  Yes, it'll kill ya, but so will alcohol, but I drink every once in a while, too.  :)

I like 'em all - McD's, BK, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's, etc.  And there's nothing on any of the menus that I DON'T like, breakfast, lunch or dinner. :)  That's about all we have around here.  None of the 'lesser' places - Hardee's, Arby's, Checkers.  They're around, but not in my 'normal' driving circle so hardly ever go there.

We eat fast food on average, one meal every one~two weeks.

Otherwise, it's fresh-cooked for breakfast and dinner, and leftover dinner for tomorrow's lunch.

And good for you on the healthy change!  I quit taking the elevator a few years ago.  My office is on the fourth floor and by the time I got to the top, it'd take 3~5 minutes before my breathing and pulse settled back down...  not too good.  Much better nowadays.

My colleagues are all into the crisp packets and loaded sandwiches for lunch. They'll most probably have full fry up for brekky, Friday the bacon butty van drives up and they're all into the sausage, bacon & egg butty. They keep on egging (no pun) me on to have one.
Meanwhile I'm into the fish, white meat, veggies, fruit malarkey and it takes me about an hour to prepare it the evening before. Maybe that's what they find amusing.
For brekky I'll have a couple of swigs of the fruit smoothie and a bowl of porridge.
I think I'd have been in serious trouble had I not changed my ways.
There's still room for improvement tho'; I need to take up some gym or swimming during the long dark winter evenings, too much sitting around checking out the tv progs.

Not a good comparison Kirkn, you don't need to drink alcohol to survive, but you must eat,  and every bit of crap that you eat is worsening your physical health, alcohol needs to be abused to be dangerous....... ;)

No, I disagree on the "every bit of crap" view.  While it is true that things are bad for your health, I'm of the opinion that as long as you don't 'abuse' the fast food, they're not damaging to your overall health.  And, with the alcohol, it IS a good comparison in terms of "occasional vices".  Because, alcohol, overall, is bad for you.  In other words, all things in moderation...

You missed my point, you do not need alcohol to survive so it isn't a good comparison at all. Look into all the preservatives and trans fatty acids an the rest of the rubbish they put into fast food and i think you would soon change your mind. I understand what you are trying to say about moderation but like i said , alcohol is not needed to survive {well in some places it may be needed.. :P} but food is and fast food being so heavily processed and full of other chemicals {and hormones and steroids}, is detrimental to your health, even in small doses. Just so this doesn't turn sour, i had a Liver transplant 11 years ago, i spent a year in hospital extremely sick waiting for a transplant, i am a very inquisitive person by nature and learned #$%* loads of stuff about my body especially diet as there was sweet #$%* all information for liver patients, lots for kidney guys but that is a completely different kettle of fish. I also did my own observations on my charts operated the monitors that were plugged into me and even counselled other patients { well i was in here for a year}. You would be surprised to see what i had to eat to maintain some sort of acceptable diet. One thing most people don't realise is that ALL fast food is caked in salt, either in the food or all over the food, it is cooked in oil that, after a certain temp becomes poisonous, sugar is used to make the food "addictive" and if you have ever had to survive on a sugary diet { i had to for quite some time} you would understand what i am saying. Don't ever be fooled into thinking that poor quality food does no harm because it does. This generation will be the first in history to not live as long as the one before it......wonderful thing fast food.....

For the first 15 years of having kids at home
it was once a year at a fast food place.

Now that the kids have left it might be once in 3-4 weeks of either
fast food restuarant or ice cream. Kinda lost the need for the stuff.  :P

Sorry guys,
Crisps= potatoe chips in a packet with 5+ times the daily allowance of salt for an adult.
Loaded sandwich= Bread roll with anything you want in it, as long as it's been processed about a month ago and kept in the freeezer since then.
Brekky= breakfast
Full fry up = full english gut buster breakfast; eggs, sausages, bacon, fried slice (bread slice fried in butter) baked beans or tinned tomatoes, blood pudding (don't ask) hash browns, toast and amug of insipid instant coffee.
Bacon butty= fried bacon or any other fryable meat in a bread roll.

I fully agree with retro. But that's not to say I'm an angel. I'm regarded as the cookie monster at home. But another thought; My neighbours on both sides are 2 complete diffrent mentality. On one side they insist on daily cooked meals with vegetables and fresh produce. Their kids are big and healthy and sharp minded. On the other side it's a different story; both kids lived their first 10 years of life on potatoe chips, takeaways and coke cola, now they're 16 and 14 and look as if they're 12 and 10 respectively, the youngest is being treated for hyper-active syndrome and is a right pain screaming and shouting all the time, whilst the eldest looks pale, frail, bad teeth and a curved back. Both of them do extremely badly at school having a very limited attention span. A career at the local supermarket checkout counter awaits. If they're lucky.

I don't eat crap anymore- including commercial items from the grocery store.  It's all made to keep forever and stack easier.   Too much salt and sugar.
Meat is basically a condiment now, that I buy organic.  The unadulterated #$%*e they feed cows and chickens- vitamins and growth hormons that promote cancer.  Empty calories.   If you eat at those places, you're laying a solid foundation for blocked arteries, heart conditions, and cancer.
Good luck to you.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!
