I'd sink 5,000.00 in that engine and have a real ride. ;)

Nice bike!  Suzuki took a leap of faith on that style and I think they deserve a lot of respect on that one!

Yes. It is part of the Anti-dive mechanism.

Basically how it works is- when the brake lever is pulled, a small amount of brake fluid bypasses the calipers and causes a plunger to compress the fluid in the forks, thus limiting the amount of fork travel; ergo- no front end dive on hard braking.

Anti-dive was a big fad in the 80's that I don't think ever really caught on. Nothing that a good set of progressive springs and the correct type & level of fluid didn't do already (IMHO). Many people disable them on these bikes.

The guy I bought it from has a fairing for it. Wanted $200.00. I did not see it but may go back and have a look.

pdxPope: Someone on the GS site said the way mine is now, he assumes I have no oil in my forks.
If the cap on my set up pushes the piston I can see, No fork oil should be effected yes/no?

I have torn the rear end down today,so I have not looked at how to see if there is oil in them yet.

That will probably be an after market fairing Derek. The 1100  "E" had a round headlight and no fairing and the 1100 "ES" had a square headlight with the fairing......it cane as a smaller fairing with the option of the longer lower section.

Going to look at the fairing tomorrow. Just got off the phone with him. He says it is a 2 piece and does cover the engine.

Hmmm.
Mick's right. The round headlight models didn't have a fairing (hard to find one as the headlight is an 8" monster). The typical aftermarket one is a generic 1/4 bikini "cafe custom" jobbie. But it doesn't cover the engine, nor is it a 2-piece.

I'll be curious to see what this one looks like. Try to get pics, even if you don't buy it.

Sorry for the hijack Derek. Yeah, they looked good but that model had a 16 inch front wheel that made them a very nervous ride, the 18 inch front was much better...

Mick

No hijack that I can see. You reminded me to call him about it ;D

He described it as having bulging sides to accommodate the clutch and alt on both sides. So my guess is this is it/

I like it, could be worth the $200.00 :)

Just remember, that is the fairing for the "EF" model and it differs from the "E" and "ES" models. Your model with a full fairing has a square headlight which i prefer but any fairing that suits the bike for $200 is a bargain....Make sure you get any brackets that go with it..

Or you could pay $250-500 for one without paint or a windscreen.....

I'd say it's worth checking out.

I'll clarify, your model came out naked as the 1100E or with a fairing as the 1100ES or 1100ESD, the ES and ESD had square headlight.
That picture you posted will fit your bike but came off the next model, the 1100 EF.  Does that make any sense..?
The blue ones in the first link are the "ES" faired models  http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-series/index.html

And in the 2nd link the bikes are the faired EF models..  http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-series/index.html

And the 3rd link is your bike  You'll like this one...   scroll down....     http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-series/index.html
