Dyna coil firing order
« on: October 28, 2010, 08:33:11 pm »
Am I missing something here? On the dyna coils dc1-1 which spot does the plug wires go to? Got 1&4 on the left  and 2&4 on the right but what cylinder goes to what spot on the coil?

The "firing order" is exactly the same as with the stock coils. Not meaning to be rude, but you are asking a VERY basic question on an advanced forum, kind of like walking into an advanced astronomy class and asking "why is the sky blue?". ;)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Yes, the sky IS blue and the question IS in the wrong forum but what he heck.
COMB2 might be a very atractive young lady (no information available) and you've just blown your chance of a date scottly. ;D ;D ;D
Like scottly says, it's the same as the standard set up.

Can someone move the question to the dumb area? I want to make sure I put the correct plug wire the the correct cylinder. Like on the left coil how do I know what plug outlet fires at 1 and which at 4? Do you just got to test to find out?

Here is the clue.
Have look at wiring colour codes to each coil.
It is straight forward and self explanatory.
You can do it.

When 1 fires so does 4.Same for 2&3.That's why you have 2 coils ,not 4.Read up as suggested.1&4 wire interchangeable as is 2&3.Good Luck,Bill..Firing order a different thing.

Jeez you blokes are hard.
1&4 fire together, 2&3 fire together it doesn't matter which lead goes to which cylinder as long as you have 1&4 hooked up to 1 coil & 2&3 hooked to the other.
I assume the wiring is not colour coded so if it doesn't fire it is probably 180 deg. out.
Just swap the power wires to the coils, no harm done.

Cheers,
Brian

+1 on what Bill says. Each coil has two plug outlets - both fire at the same time so you connect one coil to  pots 1 and 4 and one coil to pots 2 and 3. Bingo.

Think the rest of you guys are a touch harsh perhaps? Maybe got out of bed too early? Just remember we were all noobs with no experience once and there's no such thing as a dumb question just dumb people who don't ask the questions they want to....  ;)

Oh and for the record, I'm installing my first Dyna ignition now and it is getting right on my tits where it says in the instructions "connect to the same wire as the standard coils connected to" or some such guff - if you never had standard coils or a standard loom on the bike this is about as much help as a hole in the head!

There now - I've set it up, just wait a few weeks and I'll be asking my own dumb ass questions  ;D

We'll be there to help out with that carton Sam.  ;D
We're paying about the equivalent of 18 Quid for light beer when it's on special and about 25 Quid for the the good stuff.
We have to get our drivers license scanned now here in Darwin to see if your on the banned drinkers list.
Still working hard at that.  ;D
Seriously, there's some boofheads that can't handle it and it's big trouble.
That Mexican Corona is around about 30 Quid for a carton of 24 but after 6 of them you're full of knowledge.  ;D

I believe the 1-4 coil is normally mounted on the left side, so I would do it that way to avoid confusion.

Sorry if I came off as harsh. It was not a dumb question, you just asked in the wrong place, and at the wrong time, as someone had just posted a question about spark plugs on a thread about exotic wheels...

Sao biscuits are a type of puffy water cracker usually eaten with tomato or cucumber or something like that

Vegemite is a yeast extract that has a dark meaty type flavour, it should only be spread lightly as it has a strong taste, i sometimes use it as a beef stock alternative when cooking stews and the like.
