Yeah it just keeps growing on me. I would never have put clip-ons on it, couldn't ride in that position since I done my back in trying to put an XJR1200 on the mainstand
. But I think it's cool the way it is now, kinda mean-looking and I like the small headlight too.
I've been thinking back to when I was building it, from de-lugging the frame, fabricating a battery box and remounting the oil tank, making the seat and side panels, fabricating the santee-style electrical box (which my father-in-law welded for me and which proved to be a pain in the ass if you needed to drop the carb bowls), total (chopper-minimal) rewire, forks rebuilt, neck and wheel bearings, swingarm bearings, brake calipers and master cylinders reconditioned, s/s hoses, new cables, complete engine overhaul etc etc etc. Man, I put a lot into that bike and when I finished it I thought it was as good as it could possibly ever be. Funny how a few aesthetic changes have morphed it into something I could not have imagined at the time, and to my eye for the better.
If I had the cash it WOULD be sitting in my garage tomorrow at auction end, but this is one of those times I've got to be sensible - the kids wouldn't understand why I spent their Christmas money buying my old bike back
For now, I might just take some inspiration for the one I'm building currently.
