Classic Motorcycle Solution Site
« on: September 22, 2010, 10:15:42 AM »
Hi, was referred to this site, http://www.classicmotorcyclesolution.com/1_7_Products.html, by members here to try to purchase airbox to carb connectors for a 78 Honda CB550K. Looks very promising but cannot get a response. Does anyone know if this site is viable??

Thanks

I sent Paul an email this weekend thanking him for the airbox boots for my '77 CB550k & to let him know I was sending a few people his way from the fourum.  He responded saying that he has been busy riding & had some trouble finding a source for materials to make the boots, but has found a new source & should be back up & running soon.  He is legit & his products are top notch so I would just keep trying.

Patrick, since you already have a set of his boots how does his price compare with DavidSilverSpares with shipping?  Just curious if I should wait a bit longer.

When I was looking for a set DSS didn't have them, they might have them now but I don't see them on the web site.  The reproduction boots were $40 shipped for a set of 4.  They are a little more shiny than the stock boots, but they are exact copies otherwise.   I hope he can get back up and running soon, as far as I know he is the only one making discontinued rubber parts.  If you need some to get you by until then PM me, I have a set that I bought on eBay with an air box, they are pretty dry & starting to crack.  They can probably be used, I would just coat them with this stuff after you get them in place:

That is how I got by with my old dried up & split boots until U found the reproductions.

Thanks for the offer Patrick but the used ones sound about like what I have.  Price sounds good even if inflation runs it up a bit.  Guess I will just keep watching his site and hope he gets back in business soon.

Just an update if anyone is still wondering-

I just ordered and received carb boots for my 77 550f and they look pretty good. I wont get to test them out for a while but they are much more pliable than the stock ones which will be better for not cracking and drying over time. So, in short, he is back to making these at least.
