Can't access Air Cleaner
« on: October 31, 2010, 11:52:48 AM »
Ok here's the scoop on the cb750a that I bought last week.  The bike runs really good.  I'm slowly getting alot of maintanence caught up on it.  I cannot get inside the air cleaner to service the filter.  There is no wing nuts on the bottom of the air cleaner box so I loosened the bolt that goes down through the top of the air box but when I get to the bolt on left side of the bike, I can turn the bolt but it never comes loose.  There is a smooth section on the bottom of the air box that turns along with the bolt on top.  How can get get this thing apart?  I'm finding rounded off bolts all over this bike.  I swear some people shouldn't be allowed to own a machine at all, let alone work on them.  Vise Grips are NOT a mechanics tool!~!  Robb

You will have to use a screwdriver to jam the nut and hope it comes off.  Another option is to pull while turning and try to engage alittle rough plastic.  Can it be removed entirely so you can get at it more easily?
