Any Other Pilot's ?
« on: October 31, 2010, 05:30:09 PM »
Hey All,

Just wondering if there's any other pilots here?

Found any good $100 hamburger's lately?

I'll let ya know what/where I fly...

-Glider Pilot License and rated on Schweizer SGS 2-33A / DG Flugzeubau DG-1000T / ASK-21 / DG-505
-Private Pilot License and rated on Diamond DA20-C1 Eclipse / Cessna 172 / Beech Bonanza / DHC-2 Beaver

And I fly out of Toronto Buttonville Airport (CYKZ)

Glider Pilots are great, I could watch them for hours. Capt. Sully was an accomplished Glider driver which is probably why he was able to bring a flying brick down safely into the Hudson river.

Two Tired or TT is a pilot also. Probably a good one considering his attention to detail.

Yes you have to be a bit off center when you are operating something that puts nothing between you and the ground but air. ;D ;D ;D

i'm no pilot now, but i plan on it as soon as i can afford to take care of it in as short of a time as possible!  i'm really diggin the sonex kit planes as well and would love to build one some day...

i've dreamed of flying for as long as i can remember.  that and skiing have been the only two things i've been interested my entire life!  i just need to do something bout it now...

Yeah for sure get your license as soon as you can...it's tonnes of fun once you get up there flying solo, or even get to fly your friends or family.

Even after I started power flying I still prefer gliding aka soaring, it's just something about it that is more.....challenging, just seeing how long your can stay up with finding thermals and ridges to get a good air current off of, or if you really have a pair going up when a massive cold front or thunderstorm is coming into the area and riding the front of that.

I completed my ground school back in '05 but unfortunately didn't get anywhere past that unless you include those unmanned planes.

I currently fly these for the US Army.

Now now, I learned on my Uncle's DC-3 and was rated. His friend had a Korean War surplus Bell and when I found out I could stay in one place, go sideways and even backward I was hooked.

In the Army I was trained on both the UH and the AH airframe. I was assigned to 1st Air Mobile Attack, and later returned Stateside to Groom Lake Nev where we practiced both Desert and anti armor tactics using the AH as a mobile artillery platform.

I don't trust them either.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It is a small World. Hartwick and company were in an Assault Unit known as the Intruders if memory serves me tier motto was Hell from Above. He is lucky to be alive. They were in the Aviation Brigades. I was Air Cav.

Now can you tell me what it feels like to go 200mph in a car.

Been flying since I was 16. Same year that I started riding motorcycles.

Flew DHC-2 beaver on floats for a number of years in Northern Canada.  Then twins, turboprops and now flying wide-body Boeing 767.  Flew Airbus 340 and 320 for a short period as well.  Mostly doing long haul flying.

2 bills is fairly undramatic... just stuff.... your the sausage in the can.... not much more...

Around 180 it gets fast and stays fast until around 240 when it becomes a new level of OMG fast...    Keep in mind most of the 250mph and up stuff is Bonneville so it's 240+ mph for 5 Miles... or the last four miles go by at around 14 seconds a Mile.... Over a MINUTE at big Speed....  and the car is generally loose as a goose.... like riding down a pea gravel road or on Ice....    the nose of the car fights the wind and is always floating a bit....

You don't drive as much as you "Coral" the junk towards the centerline...

Fun stuff really.... heading out towards a place called Floating Mountain...    I wrote something a while back it's on my box somewhere.... I'll dig it up...

That sounds exactly what I'm planning to do...

Same as you started flying and riding motorcycles at 16 and hope to be flying the heavies someday  ;D

What airline do you fly for...i'd guess from the fleet types of 340's, 320's and 767's Air Canada???

Welcome aboard Graeme  :)

...that's me by the way in the reflection  ::) been at it while too.

Best of luck with flying and the 550. Keep your eye out on kijiji.ca for SOHC Four parts. Now and then some basket cases come up in the Toronto/Newmarket/Barrie area for cheap. Never hurts to have a spare everything  ;)
