can I interchange carbs from different year
« on: September 16, 2015, 12:31:44 PM »
I have a 1978 cb750 with carb bowls that all the screws are stripped. I also have a spare set of carbs off of my 1976 cb750. Other than being true to stock can I interchange these? (Can I use the 1976 carbs on a 1978 cb750K bike)
Thanks

Make sure the two model years use the same length intake boot, or if not, that you can still wiggle the carbs into their airbox connectors.  My '75 550s both have '77 carbs, and the connectors between the carb and the head are different for the different years.  Live and learn.  Once i got that squared away and learned the correct float height adjustment for '77 carbs, there were no problems.  That's what I get for assembling two CB550s from a pile of mixed-year parts.

1975 CB550K (shaping up, slowly)
I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride. . .
