CB 750 tires

I'm going to be refurbishing a 1972 CB 750.  What tires are good replacements for stock?

I like the Dunlop GT501s I have on my bike. If you look in the FAQs you'll find an entire thread dedicated to tires.

I run gt501's on my k2 as well and am very happy with them.

they are 100/90-19 front and 120/90-18 rear.

If you want to keep the 'old school' look go for K81 Dunlop tt100's. Put a GP compound tire on the front, the rubber is nice and soft. I ran the combination on the weekend on a track day at our local circuit and was stoked at how they performed. Most of the vintage and retro racers (bucket racers as they are called down here, 'cos the bike came out of a few buckets of bits) use this combination (I found out later) so if they are using them on the track they must be ok. Also, my combination was suggested by HondaMan, so that has to be good, and also by the local tire expert who also races when he can. HondaMan recommends blocks on the front and back, don't mix a block with a rib....Just my opinion..TC

I settled on the Metzeler ME33 Laser 3.25 X 19 for the front and the ME88 120-90 X 18 for the rear on the '75 750 F many years ago.  I got 16,000 miles on the last front and 14,000 miles from the last rear tire, running tubes, of course.  Mostly commuting miles in southwestern Idaho.  The interesting thing is that I have gotten more miles out of each succeeding tire over the years.  I ride them down to the wear bars.  Traction is great, wet or dry, and steering is neutral.  They don't start feeling weird as they wear.  Pressures are 38 PSI for the front, and 40 PSI for the rear.
