The Black Spur, gotta be The Black Spur. I don't care what anybody says. 17km of hairpins, most down to 25km/hr sign posted. And boy, is it an awesome bit of road in a Subaru AWD. Done it a few time in the Subie - 2nd gear all the way, 80-90km/hr, 5-6,000rpm. All the windows down just to hear the tyres scream from the top to the bottom. And where is the Black Spur you ask? Victoria, Australia between Marysville and the Yarra Valley on the way down into Melbourne. After that I'd have to say the road between Tamworth and Port Macquarie via Walcha.

well i grew up in cairns and i reckon the best road i`ve ridden is a circuit from cairns, up the gillies range (great sweepers and more than a few tight hairpins) across the atherton table lands (beautiful scenery and a lovely little pub or two) down the kuranda range (very similar to the gillies) and back to cairns for a few beers and  a bull#$%* about the ride lol

cheers all

But coming back via the Grampians that place is a bikers heaven.

Putty Road NSW - from my place on the Central Coast to Wollombi is good & then it's pure magic with most types of bends imaginable - stop at the Putty Roadhouse to refuel & then go back the other way!!
note: stay away on weekends as, with the "Old Road", the wannabe road racing brigade have started attracting Police notice.

I have traveled the "OLD" Putty road quite a few times over the years and it was as scary as hell, thin road with massive drops and cowboy truckies. I saw several trucks meet their demise on that road, the newer road is much better.

I was fortunate enough to have ridden several of those roads mentioned.  I joined some Ozzie friends for a 3 week bike tour 2 years ago.  the great ocean road was a highlight as well as the fall creek area.  We even rode the Puddy and loved it.  It's no wonder that OZ produces so many great competitive riders, the race track is just out the front door.
Our only regret was missing the classic bike races at Phillips Island by 2 days.  It seemed that every time we stopped, there was an old Norton in the back of a ute heading for the track.
I also gained a real respect for truck traffic.  i thought we had large highway tractor/trailer units in canada but nothing compared to OZ.
The first two days were in the pouring rain but the remainder of the trip was remarkable.
The Ozzies that I travelled with are comming to Canada this July for a bike tour through the Rocky Mountains and a bit of Idaho and Montana.
I'm going to have my work cut out for me trying to impress the boys after that ride in Australia.

Just perusing the Oz forum and ran across this old thread.  I spent a month in your wonderful country about two years ago and hired a Ducati Monster out of Surfer's Paradise.  I found a fantastic loop and wrote a bit of it down.

Moving my family to Melbourne in January for a year or so for work and I'm looking forward to it...

South east Queensland and northern New South Wales are full of roads like that one, The old Mount Lindsay Highway and the run up to Mount Tamborine are good rides as well, Tamborine is short but invigorating...... ;)

Adelaide Hills should provide something for any motorcyclist's fancies - some tight and twistie, others open and sweeping, some slow some very quick. A lot of them now are posted at 80kph sadly (no doubt due to bikers having far too much fun), but my favourite - Ashbourne to Meadows thru Bull Creek - is still at 100, and I don't see many police on it. The old CB purrs through there, and it suits the power, speed and my rapidly reducing abilities :-[
Another favourite down my way is Victor to Delamere along Range Rd - 50k of fast sweeping open 100kph roads, warp speeds possible on the right kit, but starting to get sneekily policed (radar behind trees etc) esp on weekends.

I drove (sorry) the Great Ocean Rd on way back from MotoGP - it's a great road alright, but 80kph takes a lot of the fun out of it. Years ago coming back from GP (89 and 90) it was open speed limit and with many bikes using it it was full race mode, no police, and a big bag of fun.

Now Tassie - mmmm, show me a bad road down there.......in 6 years of living there I never found one....
