Sometimes directions are needed...help please.
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:24:42 AM »
I just bought a set of Emgo exhausts for my 350 Four. I can't figure out how to attach the muffler to the headers. They supply a set of three concentric brass colored steel rings of varying size I thought would do the trick but I cant seem to make it work with just one of them. Any of you done this? I'm not stupid but this one puzzles me.

I finally got back to putting the bike back together after a 6 months break due to Home remodel and I am anxious to ride.

TIA

the reducers suck. See the issue is that the O.D. of the 4-4 pipes is only 1.5 inches or so. Most slip-ons are close to 2 inches. What I did was get small diameter exhaust pipe and open one end to fit the slip-on and the other to either go in or over the header pipe. From there, the seams need to be welded. I tried to expand my header pipes but one cracked a bit and that was that, I stopped that trick!
It is not pretty but if you polish the adaptors well with something like nev'r'dull, it can get really shiny and it much harder to notice.
