Oil Line Hose Braiding CB750K0
« on: November 04, 2010, 03:20:18 PM »
I am trying to refurbish my 750K0 oil lines. Anyone know what the original outer braided covering was. I assume it was cotton but did it have any kind of coating and was it white or black colour?

Cheers

Ash

If you can find hose in the original pattern, please let us know!  RR

The very early ones were smooth, no braiding on them. I don't know to what numbers though.

The early CB750's had light colored hoses, a kind of beige. Later models had black hoses, but the color black came from a coating on the hose. I removed this coating from a NOS hose and the cover had a grey color.

I think that it was cotton they used.

Never knew about the smooth hoses. I think mine on my 'Oct '69 built were braided as original (1010382 frame). Does this sound correct/ was it the sandcasts which had non-braided hoses.

Anyone have a picture of a NOS early braided one (light coloured)?

Best regards

Ash

The metal fittings on the earliest oil lines that screw into oil tank weren't crimped (sub 2000 vins or so). The lighter coloring was due to fading. Earliest vin's had smooth sheething (sub 1000 or so), ultra early had yellow lettering and numbers on hoses (pre-production).
Sandcast Only site documents this sorta stuff in detail.

To add to 736cc's info:
The oil lines were smooth rubber up to #338 and mixed (smooth rubber or braided) up to about #600 (super early stuff).  After that everything was braided but I'm not sure about colors.
