Question for all you dual disc spoked wheel guys...
« on: November 05, 2010, 02:34:56 PM »
What's the width, I guess disc to disc is what I'm looking for.

What I'm really after is if you could use a spoked dual disc wheel with 77/78F forks (or just the lowers really).

I did a search but didn't find answers to these specific questions.

Thanks,

Matt

The 77/78 discs were thinner with a different diameter and offset so i dont think what you want to do will work without machining and/or mods

Well, the dual disk wheel is from a 77/78K so my question wasn't specific enough.

I was trying to cut corners by asking the question.  I have all the parts to answer the question, just didn't feel like building a dual disc wheel, and the F front end to see if they'll work together.    It's actually a buddy of mine that needs the answer, he's got a K bike with F front end and wheel and a spoked rear.  He's trying to get a front spoked dual disc front the easiest way.  I have a bunch of 77/78K wheels and rotors, etc. so if it swapped in that would have been the easiest way.

Thanks for the info.  If I find out the answer, I'll post it...

The F discs are thinner and have a different bolt pattern than the spoked K hub and the F forks/ trees are too narrow for the K hub with K rotors to fit.  I am currently switching over to a GL1000 front end so I can ditch the comstar wheels.  It might work if you can use the F lowers in K trees to get the spacing correct then redrill the rotors hole pattern to match the K hub.
