Yes, I know, this old chestnut again, but I need to vent.
Firstly, I ALWAYS remove my helmet when paying for fuel - whether it's "law" or not, I just think it's a courteous thing to do.
This morning I'm at the servo I always use (normally in the work car, but today on the old CB) - I had my helmet on while I was filling up. Next minute, over the loud speaker, so the whole friggin servo could hear it.....
"Number 2, please remove your helmet". All eyes were upon me.
I looked up, yes I was Number 2. A couple of explitives and a shake of the head later, I finished what I was doing, removed my helmet and made my way to the desk.
She could see I was not real impressed, and said straight away before I had even made it to the counter....
"I love your bike". Normally that would be enough for me to go weak at the knees, fall in love and have a chat, but my response was....
"WTF was all that about - since when do you police what people are wearing when they are just filling up?" She says that I....
"will find it is the case everywhere" I said.....
"BS, and do you say the same to people wearing burkhas (sp) when they're filling up?" She just said....
"no, but that is our helmet policy". I said.....
"well, that's discrimination and it sucks - I was going to take it off when I came in, as I always do, but I don't like being told what to wear when I'm out there, especially when everybody out there turns and stares at me". She got my point and didn't wish me nice day or ride.......
Later on, I was at another servo (did quite a few miles today
![Grin ;D](http://forums.sohc4.net/Smileys/default/grin.gif)
), and related the story - he said it was a bit "radical" and they don't give a toss what people wear when they are filling up, but do ask that helmets come off when paying (again, I am fine with that).
Anyway, I feel better now, thanks for listening.
Peter.
