Carpy's Box Swingarm
« on: November 08, 2010, 10:41:01 AM »
I've got a question for anyone on this board that might be using one . . .
How does his swingarm compare in outside dimensions (width) to a stock (73 cb750) swingarm?
I'm wondering if it at any point it might be narrower.

Reason I ask is that when I put the rear seat loop on my frame I was obliged to used longer (14.25") shocks to raise the rear end for enough rear tire clearance. What this was lower the swingarm to slightly higher than one inch above the bolts in the passenger peg mounts (which I'm using to mount the exhaust pipes). I'm also using some tubular frame clamps for my rearsets that sit about 3.5" above the swingarm (but much closer to the pivot bolt).

A solution I do have is to notch the outside flat seam for extra security but I'm thinking of Carpy's swingarm is 1x2" box construction, would the one inch measure make the swingarm's exterior dimensions noticeably narrower than stock, which would solve my potential clearance issues and look cool as well.

Thanks in advance.
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

Hey Swellguy,

Since the Carpy box swingarm is a copy of the Dresda swingarm, and I build them too, I can say it's overall width at the footpegs is narrower. Thinks it solves your 'probs'.

Good luck and cheers,

Rob

I wasn't aware that you made a swingarm too. I'm in the market for one too and the cheapest aftermarket swingarm I could find is Carpy's
