Latest 750 find
« on: November 08, 2010, 05:34:39 PM »
1972 CB750 Vin#cb750-2028505

turns over fine, lights work, they kind of goofed up the wiring the lights dont turn off. but very clean for a $250.00 find.
Im new to the 750's, now that my 550 is almost done, ill be keeping this for a winter restore.  I guess i got to him first, he held the bike for 2 days for me.  Seat def needs done correctly, tank needs cleaned.  They said they had it running, so we'll find out in a couple days, ill clean the carbs and hook up a clean tank to it after i check the compression and spark plugs.  If anyone else can tell me about this year 750 id appreciate it, ill be doing alot of searching as well.

Very nice and very good score.  It should make a good addition to the garage.
Nice score!

Nice 250 score, any CB750 I find at that price is a rusted, seized pile of junk, Larry

Dang, nice find.  Its been said before but we just don't see that kinda of deal here in the south and southwest.  They must have sold a zillion 750's and 550's in the mid west.

This is the type crap we find around here:
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2026845315.html
or almost as bad:
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2028325957.html

If you were just a little crazy you could spend $1050, buy both and have a total basket case with a suspect engine, a nice frame, no tank, no seat, rusty wheels and so fourth.  You get the picture.  Every once in a while something nice shows up, but the prices tend to be very high.

I wonder if it is because we ride year around and just rode them to death?

no clue, cant find any markings on the exhaust.

seems like you can find some decent deals in indy.   I can ship a bike for about $350 with my discount.   Found a white good running 750 for $400.00 almost bought it as well.   Didnt know if i should part this one out or restore it. Im assuming this is a K,  correct?

DanielB, the Austin deal is a NO TITLE deal.  I shy away from those.  Might be a good parts purchase.

will do.  not sure what im going to do as far as look, but 1st things 1st, im going to get it running well.

next in line:
pull the carbs and clean, check valves, new plugs, timing,   has no front break  but will take it on a small test ride around the block to check gears.  wiring is going to be messy i just know it.  they have it all jacked up.

I think the exhaust is an old MAC system.  I passed on that bike at $400.  He must have come to his senses.  I never know if I am the first guy to look and I am bursting some dudes bubble or the last guy and he is ready to seriously deal.  It does take quite a bit of my time finding out.  I also bought a 750 last night. 1977 CB750F SS all original, needs slip on muffler and cafe mods, $275. Last Sunday it was a KZ400 for $75.00 title and engine turns over. They are out there.
