Some close-up photos of the filter in place would probably be good, too.  How much clearance and/or interference is there on the different models/years of bike?

On the 550, the filter just touches the triangle downtubes, right?

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Took some pics...

The filter is pretty much right up against the left side cover, but I don't know if the cover is even OEM.

The flexibility of the velocity stacks was absolutely critical to ease of installation.

Thanks for posting the pic's odie.   The red stacks look great with your billet parts.

The left side cover looks like it's aftermarket.  There shouldn't be any clearance issues with the 750's, with stock covers or without.  That said I don't have access to every version of 750 to test fit.  Regarding fitting the filter.  Although getting the screws in can be a pain (with the tank on), it is the easier way the fit the stacks/back plate the 1st time.

Thanks, I had the idea of doing flat black with red accents and it's turning out quite nice.

On the side covers, I don't have the proper mounting hardware so the left side is just zip-tied on.

I was able to get the whole assembly in with very little fuss by just installing the stacks/back plate first and then installing the filter. Didn't have to remove anything, in fact.

Update on the 750 PD stacks.

They have arrived, and the kits will ship the beginning of the week.

Installed today. Thanks for the updated instructions.

Bike is definitely idling a lot better now but it's still pig rich and just dumping gas out the back. I'm thinking it's time to look at the carb needles as you said and make sure the emulsion tubes aren't blocked. Looking for that tuning thread.

Is there any chance of getting just a set of the stacks for a 550k1?  I haven't seen a separate price anywhere despite thumbing through most of this thread.

Probably didn't find one because one has never been set. ;)  Up to this point I have only had made what was required to fill the orders.  I have mentioned previously that I will sell just the stacks, but have not put aside any extra inventory yet.

Are you interested in black, or a colour 550 stack?

I could to black, or maybe green or yellow/gold? I'm just thinking about it, but I'd most likely be interested.

I'll post a new photo of the yellow 750 stacks again.  They are actually darker than they appear in the 'packing' photo (closer to a Corvette yellow).  Once I figure out a 'stack only' price, I'll post it, and let you know.

Excellent, thanks ;) I had to take the airbox off once this weekend, and I'd rather not have to do it again pretty much ever...but no rush at all.

Thanks for posting the pic CafeElite, looks very nice.  How soon before we getting a running report?

One comment - make sure all the nubs are lined back up, so that the stacks are correctly orientated.  On the 550 they point to the short side (the holes are offset on centre line).

Well I am hoping to have it on a running bike by the time the barber festival starts :D

Yea I just wanted to get them on so I could get a pic.. I figured I would just readjust them afterwords which obviously was a bad idea considering how hard they are to turn. Not a bad thing just something I didnt take into consideration. Curious will you keep spare boots encase someone like myself destroys one out of a fit of rage? If so would I have to buy all four or have you thought about selling one offs? I have not read the past couple pages so dont flog me if this has already been discussed.

If there is an unfortunate 'accident' (although they are pretty tough), I will replace individual ones.  That said, I do not have 'shelf inventory' yet, so be careful. ;)  A little dish soap & water will make things go much easier.

I can't stress enough that the nubs must line up, for the stack set to be orientated correctly.  If not, they will not seat properly on the carb(s) mount.

Me too!!!  Thanks again for all the help Brian!  hopefully you can start a tuning thread soon!  i feel my motor will be quite "special" to tune, haha!

For those that are wondering, I am planning on running: this intake, 4-1 Carpy exhaust, 41 cam, 4th (1mm) over pistons, MReick stage 1.5ish head, .010" decking, Hondaman ignition, PD carbs.  i have no clue where i'm going to start yet!

Nice bike sixthw.  In answer to your question, yes, as per post #1.  Re the side covers.  I have not fitted it on a 550 with covers, don't have one.  The filter measures 325mm at the widest point (back plate centre line), then curves in.  As your side covers are not tight to the frame rail; it looks like it will tuck in, like it does on Terry's 750.

I'll PM you.

The filter kit is $235Cdn. + $15 shipping to the USA.  I currently have red stacks in stock, and can have a set of either yellow or black in about 6 days.

I was working interstate this week, so when I arrived home last night I was happy to see (amongst a lot of boxes of parts I've been buying for my K6 resto) a box from Brian containing the CB750F2 filter kit. It looks great mate, thanks again! Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
