I'd sure love to see some more photos on 750s without side covers!

Will this filter fit PD42A carbs?

Will this filter fit PD42A carbs?

There are two versions of the 750 stacks available.  One for the early carbs, and one for the later PD's on the 77 / 78 models.

I'd sure love to see some more photos on 750s without side covers!

How about it guys, anyone have something to post for coma13?  I know the PD stacks are visable in one of Voxonda's pic's of his endurance racer, but the filter isn't mounted yet - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=60521.564

No worries brian, if I get home early enough tonight (before dark) I'll snap a couple, but I think they look really good with Joe's finned sidecovers!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Will the 550s fit a 73' 500 (627B carbs)?  If not, any plans to make some?

They do look cool, but I'm having a hard time picturing what kind of frame space the whole unit occupies for those of us who run sans sidecover.

I think the only difference is the carb spacing, which isn't a problem.  Somewhere I saw carbs in the boxes that came with my 73. LOL  I'm going to be looking for some other stuff, and will take some measurements.  The only other issue is distance from carb to frame rail.

I only run the battery in my 550 triangle.  Not quite a Terry's 750.

Woohoo! read thru all 26 pages so that I didnt ask the same question over and over again, "Do I need to rejet my carbs?" ...well if ya didnt need to then whats the purpose of delivering more air! But anyways, I assume still $235 CDN + $15 for shipping to Lower 48? And do you have a set for 550 with just the black stacks? I think I might be the first to order with 022A Carbs, everyone with 550's seems to have the newer EPA-friendly suckers

Hi Chris - I have a filter & clamps, but would need to get a set of black stacks in for you.  Not a problem, about 2 weeks.  I do have red & yellow in stock though (N/C).  I just need to check the carb spacing for the back plate holes.

mroberts - found the other stuff I was looking for, and know were the carbs aren't. ;)  However, I need to move some stuff to get to the last boxes.  Probably tomorrow, or Saturday.

Tintop,

If and when you decide to sell just the filter and blank back plates let me know. I'm doing an EFI conversion on my CB650 and will need some type of custom filtration. I like the looks of your setup. I'm in no huge hurry as I'm just in the gathering parts stage at this point and the new Microsquirt isn't out yet either.

Thanks,
Tim

It's a long weekend up here, so I've been with family the last couple of days, time to catch-up.

mroberts - checked the carbs yesterday (627B's), and no problem with drilling the back plate spacing.  Thought I had a spare stack there to check fit, but no, so will do that today.  Everything looks good so far.

ckasinski - PM reply sent.

65Ch3v3LL3 - Looking at using EFI on my JMR 1080, so yes at some point I will be making just the filter/back plate available.  Haven't thought about pricing at this point though.

Hey guys/gals.  About the 550 side covers.
When I ran the Alphabet air cleaners on my 1978 CB550K, I just took an industrial band saw to the side covers.  Trimmed out an arc shape, touched it up with paint and was good to go.
on my third CB550k  Bought brand new 1978,  used 1977, used 1978 current bike  4635 original miles now

A quick update for those who have expressed an interest.  I will be placing an order by the end of Oct, for (with any luck) shipping for a Christmas delivery.  This will be a much smaller order, and those not already spoken for will be going on eBay.  So if you want one, order info is in the 1st post (deposit $60 Cdn).  If you have any questions now is the time to ask.  Either in the thread, or by contacting me through PM or email.

As for the status of my 550, its currently running like s*#t since the cam change.  Either the cam isn't timed right, or there is an ignition issue.  Also the carbs are going to need a cleaning as the bike has been sitting too much.  Once these things are sorted it will be going on the dyno.
