Gady TT and Terry, what a read! I've just sat here and read all 36 pages (maybe skipped a few) on this air filter system, awesome work!

My questions are for Terry considering Im up in Sydney, Ive nearly got my cb750 k3 on the road which I cant wait for! It is stock as a rock right now but wanting to make some minor mods for now with out touching engine internals!
Did you finish the final testing Terry with the filter on the stock carbs?
Im am wanting to go as far as intake, exhaust and jetting for performance for now the rest will be minor cosmetic changes.

Hope you guys are well, thanks for all your knowledge and wisdom so far fellas!

Gday Pat, if yours is as stock as you say just keep the stock air filter box and use a freer flowing K&N filter, you can drill some more holes in the bottom of the airbox to let through more air if needed but i doubt it on a stocker, 4into1 and all...
I am a big fan of Brian's {TT} work but you don't really need it on your bike...IMO

Gday RR, hope you guys are doin ok up there and thanks for the reply! I want to keep some originality to it but at the same time give it a little bit of a sportier look than the high bars and big couch seat. Ill ride it a while as is then see if it suits me the way it is!

Thanks, Pat

Hi Pat, apart from a few trees down we did OK. I like superbike bars on my Honda's, never did like the stock bars, only problem is that some of the cables can be too long when changing bars....  Superbike bars make the old Honda's look sportier too... ;D

Sorry for going off topic, should I start a new thread???

I am going to start off with a set of drag bars first and see how I like them, Im also thinking about getting a new repro seat from ebay, what do you think of this one RR?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181066916408?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648#ht_1239wt_947

Any reason why not? Oh and everything that comes off my bike will be stored away in case I ever want to make it original again!

We probably shouldn't be discussing this in Brian's thread . Those seats have been mentioned on the forum before, i seem to recall someone having problems with them but i can;'t say for sure, maybe search the site for "Vietnam ebay seats". Not trying to talk you out of it but they will be hard on your butt after around 10 minutes in the saddle, i know when i lived in Sydney we made regular rides through Maquarie pass down Woolongong way and Oran park and many other rides, national park as well, All sore butt territory with that seat, the stock seats are better if any miles are to be ridden.... ;)  On longer trips i put a sheep skin on the seat for more comfort {and to titillate any NZ riders i may meet}   ;D

pjwalsh, since we're talking seats in the filter thread, I've got a seat for you.  It's like the one in this link (gold lettering, never fitted) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-1976-Honda-CB750-K0-K6-Cafe-Racer-complete-seat-/400321389266?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3503a2d2&vxp=mtr

Not sure what it would cost to ship to OZ, weight's not an issue, just package size.   It would use the stock mounting pieces from your original seat.

Hello Brian,

I'm hoping you have an antipod set up for my '76 CB550 at hand, if so my only question is (and I read soooo many pages) I currently have a Carpy 4-1 exhaust, cheap pods and higher jetted mains...if that's not an issue and your filter system will improve my "just on throttle stumbles"  I would love to order! I'd prefer red if available, second choice black.

I would be looking to use paypal & shipping is to Holiday, FL. USA. Looking forward to your reply / answer to my question.

Thanks,
Dan

RR is correct, my focus has been elsewere do to the move.  Besides the just settling in, there's turning a garage into a workshop, while refurbishing the sidecar for the coming season.  Apologies for the delay to responding.

1st...I don't have any stock, everything including the extra one for myself :(, has been sold.  It does sound like there is interest in another run though.  The price will be the same ($255 + shipping), and the deposit is $120.  Delivery is approximately 6 weeks from when I confirm the order with ITG.

If you are interested in a filter kit from the next order, please contact me by email with the following:
forum name & real name
model & carbs - eg 750k3 early carbs, or 550 with PD's
location (eg CA, MN, OR) for shipping cost ($15 USA, $30 outside NA)

Oh, Retro Rocket...sending the XS's rockers & shafts to Ken @ Cycle X to be coated.   So they'll slide nicely over the new cam. ;) :)

If their 750 carbs and have accel pumps, they're the later ones (77/78).  The 500 & 550 ones have the same OD & spacing.

You lost me - I'm new to carb bikes! I have a 76 CB550 K ....does that help you determine what anti-pod set up I need or do you need something else off the carbs themselves?
Much appreciated!

The 500 & 550 (all years) use the same kit.  There are two different kits for the 750's.

Hey there,

Brand new to this forum and was just reading up on your product here. Sounds great! I was almost gonna switch to pods from my stock air box  until I saw this. By the sounds of things on this thread this filter system takes much less adjusting the carbs to  get your bike running smooth than regular pods do??

If thats the case than put me down for a set, I hear the pods are a nightmare for tuning. Are you currently taking anymore orders for 550's?

Tintop, I've got a 550frame with a 550/650 hybrid motor running 750 carbs.  Any chance this will fit? I can't remember where you posted it in this thread but how long is the antipod for the 750?

I would love it if this setup fits my bike...

Thanks!

Bad news / Good news

First I want to thanks all those who have supported this endeavour.  The bad news...I've decided to stop supplying the filter kits.  My costs have gone up again, and I can no longer justify the upfront out of pocket expense.  The reality is I was underwater on the last order.  With the move, starting to get some shop space setup, and prepping the sidecar for the coming season there are no funds available to continue.

The good news for those who want to DIY.  Paul @ http://classicmotorcyclesolutions.com/  can/will continue to make the stacks available for the 500 / 550, & both versions of the 750 carbs (early & 77/78 PD's).  You can contact him directly through his web site.

'edit' Sept 6/13 - I have contacted ITG (Andy Jackson: andy.jackson@itgairfilters.com ),and they will make filters on an individual bases - the P/N's are as follows: for the CB500/550 #JCJNBR/45, and for the CB750 #JCJNBR/55.  At the present time these will come with an un-drilled back plate. I'll post drilling information shortly to this post.  Orders from Europe will ship from ITG directly, orders from else where will come from the local distributor.

'edit' Sept 9/13 -
Canadian contact - Jon Nichols, email: jon@jonnichols.com
USA contact - Gary Donahoe, email: info@coastfab.com

Drilling info - 1st you need to mark to horizontal centre line on the back plate, and find the centre point of this line.  For the 500/550's you need to mark a 2nd line 8mm above the first, this is your drill line for these.  The hole spacing is the same for all versions: 75mm between 1&2 / 80mm between 2&3 / 75mm between 3&4.  Start by marking the centre of holes 2&3 (40mm each way from centre point).  Hole sizes - 500/550 41mm / early 750 carbs 44mm / 750 PD carbs 48mm.

Tintop,

That makes me sad!  So thankful though for all the work you put into the product.  Do you know if ITG is still willing to make the filters and what their minimum order quantity would be?  I'll have to go back through this whole thread and get all the details!

Thanks again!
