I'm gonna bump this thread every so often to see if there's a newcomer who might be able to pick up the torch and run.

I love my setup.  It looks race-ready and performs well.  I am thankful to have gotten one when I did but I know there are others who are sad they missed out.

Thanks to Terry, and his greatly appreciated help I am now closer to running the anti pod.

Im in Sydney Australia, before mods I was running a standard 4 into 4 exhaust, air box, 125 main/40 slow jets and needle clip set at second position from the bottom. This ran like a bucket of #$%*!

The only other mod I performed was to raise the needle to its last position and retest the set up and WOW.

only a minor hesitation low in the rpm but opens it up in the 4000-5500 rpm range.

more testing tomorrow, thanks to all you guys here for the insight and knowledge!

I have spoken with ITG and they will continue to supply the filters as bespoke units.  See post #899 for further information.

For anyone interested in getting one of these filter setups, as Tintop has reported ITG will still sell one. You have to contact there U.S. distributor: http://www.itgairfilters.com/distributors2.asp?section=distributors&ID=32 , and talk to Gary Donahoe. Gary stated that if you call him at: 714-842-2603 he will place an order for the filter. Gary stated that for the 77/78 CB750 filter it will cost $238.90 plus shipping. This will be for a domed filter and blank base plate. You will still have to contact Paul Gabor from: http://www.classicmotorcyclesolution.com/ , to get the custom stacks. They will run you another $35 plus shipping.

Aweseome!  Thanks for looking into it.  I'll be ordering one ASAP since I missed the boat when Tintop was getting these done.

I did mention that this will have BLANK base plates. You will have to figure out hole spacing and size. As for the custom stacks that price was for black. Will be more for color. Also the stacks do not come with the band clamps.

I have update Post #899 to include the contact info for Canada & the USA, along with drilling info for the 500/550, early 750 carbs, and later 750 PD's.

If anyone still has questions they can contact me @ brian.robinson7@sympatico.ca.

Anyone thought about just selling drilled back plates? I'd love one of these kits, just dont have the tools available to drill them at the moment.

Tintop, do you have the cad file or drawing available for the back plate?  I have a buddy who is always up for CNC'ing parts so if we have enough interest, I could ask him to cut a few.

I made an offset plate for my 550 to pull the filter off the frame by 10mm. The ITG filter is so nice looking!

It does look very good, nice work.

Have you had it running yet, though?  The original setup was designed with some specific flow parameters in mind.  With the stack mouth opening 10mm closer to the foam element now, you may end up with tuning issues.  Hopefully not!

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

I am still in the middle of building the motor. The inside of the filter has mesh wire support so I don't think 10mm will cause any deflection etc. I will know next spring when I am putting the motor back in :)

My concern is not deflection, my concern is turbulent flow into the carb causing tuning issues.  I could be wrong and I'm not keen on re-reading 40 pages of this thread, but I thought that the filter 's inner volume was sized in such a way that it would help ensure uninterrupted laminar flow into the carb.

I know that the design of the stacks with the half-round edges was due to that, I thought that  the clearance between the stack mouth and the inside of the filter element was another important factor.

I think that what you've done looks great, and with the 550's smaller carb dia hopefully the flow will work well, too.  If it does work well I wouldn't be surprised to see others doing a similar mod.

No disrespect to Tintop at all, but I am just wondering was the original design done with a simple flat sheet metal plate for simplicity and cost effectiveness. My design obviously is a little more complex to manufacture and would cost more than a flat plate with holes. We will find out how it work this Spring all being well.

I called my local ITG rep (for all of California) and he said that part number didn't work. Anyone have the ITG part number for the 750s?

I Just ordered the velocity stacks from Paul @ http://classicmotorcyclesolutions.com.  Also have an email out to Andy at ITG regarding the filter.  Hopefully, I'll hear back from him soon and I'll post info here.

Thanks, I'm just waiting for Paul to send me an invoice! Let me know about the filters when you hear back. What bike are you building these for?

I'm in the middle of building my 550/650 hybrid.  Carbs are early cb750 models.  I have the usual K&N pods on the filters now and they fit fine so hoping this setup will also not have a conflict...  Good thing the pods are still in their plastic.

KrautKoffin - the P/N's in post #900 is the ones ITG assigned to the two filters.  These not a standard ITG # listing.  Have your ITG rep contact Andy @ ITG.

IRISHCBRACER - All this style of filter from ITG uses a flat back plate, regardless of application.  Syscrush is correct re sizing, and flow.  The rule is the minimum distance from the bell mouth to the inner surface of the filter should not be less than the ID of the carb throat.  The sizing for the 500/550 is just over that, same with the 750.  In actual fact the stacks for the 500/550 that Paul made for me are slightly shorter than stock to make everything fit within those parameters, and the frame rails.
