Ugh, Brake Ques....
« on: December 05, 2010, 09:15:16 AM »
So I know there is a lot of info on Brake rebuilding and upgrading for CBs out there, but as I was reading through a lot of the posts it seems that I am having trouble getting a straight answer to what I am curious about.

I currently own a 1975 CB550k. My front caliper Piston is pitted so its replacement will cost me $95. I was thinking(and I understand the brake isnt terrible), since its single piston and all, if there were later models of brakes that fit somewhat easier on the bike with a dual or even quad pistons on it? I figured if i have to spend around $100 bucks, is there a better path to take to have my brake be a bit better? Im not looking to make the brake super modern. I upgraded my lines to SS and have a new master cylinder now so I was just wondering if there were an 1980s caliper or something I should look into. Thanks!
