How many Texas people here?
« on: November 10, 2010, 07:39:57 AM »
Houston myself!

Is it just me or are all of the good deals in the North? I see people post that they just got great deals on bikes for next to nothing!  Where are the deals in Texas?!

Where are the deals in Texas?!

When you find them, let me know.

Apparently the market for vintage Hondas is hotter here than other parts of the country otherwise prices wouldn't be so comparatively high.

Im in Dallas but I only check in on this forum 1-2x week or so.

Just like everywhere else in the country....the best deals arent necessarily listed on ebay or craigslist....they are typically found by word of mouth. If you are in the market for old Hondas, tell everyone you talk to about your interests....neighbors, guys at the bar, guys at church, etc....tell everyone....you'll be surprised how it might come back to clue you in on deals that arent advertised through traditional channels. And many times they're much cheaper than if it were advertised on craigslist....

You might also consider a craigslist search tool like searchtempest.com to easily search a specific geographic region or "miles from your zip code".

Thats just my $0.02...for what its worth....

Out by the Bay.  Seems like most of the great "finds" are in the mid-west.  Maybe it is because there aren't very many "Barns" left in this part of the world for bikes to hide in.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

The Woodlands here!

Deals seem to be in Austin sometimes but all Houston bikes seem to be $1000 minimum.

I'm out by Lake Travis, just west of Austin, in the Hill Country. Great roads for riding just out the garage.

There are deals, but you have to search. Bought a K7 last month for $300, down in San Antonio.

Daniel - I found you one in SA, did you call?

I'm back in Texas now!  Plano, to be specific.  I'd rather be in Austin, but my whole family is in Plano.  This is where I grew up, so it's still home to me.

No, I didn't end up calling.  I wouldn't be able to go out to San Antonio for a few weeks so I'll just have to wait and see.

There was one on CL that was for 1100, complete, that I really wanted but it had been sold pretty quickly also.

I'm holding down the fort in South Austin.  If there are any other Austinites around, Moto Classics is having a grand opening party this Saturday.  I have been to the new shop on South Congress.  I must say - pretty cool.  Should be a good party.

I move away from Austin and all sorts of fun stuff starts happening.  Sounds fun.

I think my bike still hates me for moving it to Chicago.

Did you move?  I thought you were out off of 175 somewhere.  Have not heard about a motorcycle show out his way.

Would be nice, but I gotta work.  We'll definitely have to get a local sohc4-er ride together after the holidays, though.

I would be interested in a sohc/4 get together & ride in Jan after the holidays. Been up around 380/Hwy 5 several times on the 'ol 750 Four.
