Remember
« on: November 11, 2010, 04:02:02 AM »
We are the dead,
Short days ago we lived,
Felt dawn, saw sunset glow
Loved and were loved,
And now we lie in Flanders Fields

Bill the demon.

Had a quite thought today as well.
We owe it to ém.
Rememberance Day
11am 11/11.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
         In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
         In Flanders fields
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

I'll repeat here what I posted earlier:

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. By Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC"

(The quote, btw, may not be genuine.  I don't care. I think the point is valid.)
