You guys stateside are making me envious.

Here in Canada we pay way more for coverage of motorcycles.

What do your policies cover in Canada? Just the other person or you also? What about a stolen bike or you dumping it over?
Our typical policy covers 1 million liability, and uninsured motorists coverage.
It's not worth putting comprehensive and collision on these old bikes as the book value is next to nothing.
Besides what has been mentioned, you can have coverage for Specified Perils that typically covers just fire and theft. That is in place of (or in addition to?) the Comprehensive coverage which would include all damages other than an accident (e.g. vandalism, debris falling from airplanes, accidental dumping, etc.).
But the big thing here (in Ontario anyways) is that the required coverage for liability also covers personal injury for the operator and passenger. In a motorcycle accident, injury is usually more likely and severe than with any other vehicle. Coupled with "no-fault" legality, it doesn't matter if the other party is at fault for causing the accident - your own insurance is responsible for you, and suing them for damages isn't an option if you have insurance. (The insurance companies are supposed to look after settlements between themselves.

) Legally you are required to carry a minimum of $200,000 liability coverage for EACH licensed vehicle - if you are caught without coverage then the fine can be $10,000 or more.
Insurance here sucks!
