Whats your declared value, like $251?  ;)

I have a recent accident and this is my first bike, figured it would be kinda high for me.

Now $113 a year. I got a discount for combining auto but thats a huge savings to me!

Wonder why i pay sooo much with state farm.  I have a clean record too.  Aout $400 every 6 months for the 750.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

What do your policies cover in Canada?  Just the other person or you also?  What about a stolen bike or you dumping it over?

Our typical policy covers 1 million liability, and uninsured motorists coverage.
It's not worth putting comprehensive and collision on these old bikes as the book value is next to nothing.

With insurance there are a number of primary factors driving rates:
location
age
prior claims
Driving record
number of vehicles insured

For me, I'm in a low-risk area, too old to drive crazy (at least they think that), don't have any claims in the past 10+ years, have a clean license and insure 7 different vehicles with them.

Just switched our insurance to Allstate for home, cars, and 1 bike. I'm in good hands. 1st accident forgiveness and $100 off the $500 deductible each year that I have no claims.

$210/yr full coverage with $3000 coverage on accessories for my 03 Harley Fat Boy. It has a much higher book value than our SOHC4's. Colorado.

Age, driving record and multiple policies help.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

You guys stateside are making me envious. :P :P  Here in Canada we pay way more for coverage of motorcycles. :-[

Besides what has been mentioned, you can have coverage for Specified Perils that typically covers just fire and theft.  That is in place of (or in addition to?) the Comprehensive coverage which would include all damages other than an accident (e.g. vandalism, debris falling from airplanes, accidental dumping, etc.).

But the big thing here (in Ontario anyways) is that the required coverage for liability also covers personal injury for the operator and passenger.  In a motorcycle accident, injury is usually more likely and severe than with any other vehicle.  Coupled with "no-fault" legality, it doesn't matter if the other party is at fault for causing the accident - your own insurance is responsible for you, and suing them for damages isn't an option if you have insurance.  (The insurance companies are supposed to look after settlements between themselves. :P)  Legally you are required to carry a minimum of $200,000 liability coverage for EACH licensed vehicle - if you are caught without coverage then the fine can be $10,000 or more.

Insurance here sucks! >:( >:( >:(

I pay 27 euros/year for my first classic bike and 20 Euros for next. This covers only others damage for 2,000,000 euros.

My 73 CB750 K2 costs me about 60 euros/year and covers damage caused by fire and theft (for max. 12,000 euros)

There is a limitation of milage for 5,000 km/year.

My 2009 KTM SMT costs me 450 euros/year and covers also my own damage. Max. milage 12,000 km/year. More is more expensive.

Health care costs by accidents are covered by my own health care insurance (214 euros/month for my family, 2 adults, 4 kids)

(1 euro is $1.37)

I have a 2005 GSXR and my 1975 CB550

For the CB550 it has always been about $74 a year

For the GSXR I called and they quoted me around $240

If I want both of the bikes insured its $314 a year

I don't personally understand this... If my GSXR (dangerous bike) is my daily driver and I drive it everywhere then I pay $240 a year for insurance to cover me everyday. If I want to hop on my CB550 (relatively safer) every now and then I shouldn't have to pay anything for insurance.

I've already paid to be insured 100% of the year while riding around on my GSXR. If one year I decide to ride my GSXR 75% of the time and my CB 25% of the time then I should have to pay 75% of $314 and 25% of $74.

I don't know if this makes since to anyone but it seems to me like I shouldn't have to pay the same as someone who rides a GSXR 100% of the time. I would think they are at a much more higher liability risk then myself. However, I pay even higher than that person  >:(
Its hard to be wrong when you know nothing!
