I have noticed lately  that many of the 21 to 35 year old men thank the older generation for serving.  Actually, it is usually the first thing they say when they find out you served.  It is an encouraging sign.

Where I currently work there are 109 employees - and only 2 of us are Vets. 1 Dogface and me the ex-Squid. We were kids with huge responsibilities - it helped mould us into the men we are today.
Thanks for this topic guys.

No...thank you.  A lot of us don't take enough time to stop and think about how lucky we are to have men and women like yourself protecting us from without and within.  One day a year isn't enough.

A less than fitting end to this Veteran's Day.  I sat down to dinner and caught a story on the news about the mix up at Arlington.  Bodies buried in the wrong gravesites.  People unable to find where their loved ones graves really are.  And the topper was one of the POS in charge refusing to answer any questions, instead invoking the 5th amendment.  What a friggin' slap in the face to those who gave everything for this country and their families.

Yes, it says volumes for someone to enter a contract with their country that payment may end up being the ultimate sacrifice. I convey my deepest respect and thanks to all that have served. 1st/81st FA 36K20 RA 73-75 Ulm-Neu Ulm.

My true and deep gratitude to the veterans of all the armies who have defended civil society around the world.  The Americans, Brit, Aussies, others (mostly Western society) etc.  You know who you are.  Not enough of us know, but we benefit every day from your hard work, your commitment, your sacrifice.

I found this comment on a blog:

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. By Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC"
