It cracks me up that some people are so shiftless that they can't take even the minimum effort to clean something up before they take a picture to post on Ebay.  Then put a ridiculous price tag on it.

I can buy a full set of sockets with two ratchet drives for less than that. Furthermore, Honda still sells them for about 90 euro. My local Honda guy told me: "Are you crazy? Go to the hardware store and buy the individual wrenches. They are better quality and will cost you less than half"

The sad thing{probably} is the condition of the bike he took the tools out

I was bidding on a pretty good toolkit from a 1972 K2 last fall on eBay. It was not mint, but a 9 out of 10 or so. It finally went for $65 USD. Yes they are cheap crappy parts, but when that's the original equipment with the bike........

I was looking at an original set or two of 550 tools on e-bay.  Then I thought for a moment and found that I can order the whole set new from crotchrocket.com for about $15.  It pays to verify costs at actual stores before letting lose on a bidding war.

What set or part number did you order from crotchrocket for a tool kit? I'd like to purchase a small toolkit for my 1978 CB550. Thanks, DrMark

CS,
Damn! I wasted 12 hours at work today only to find that the most useful bit of information of the day would be found within five minutes of getting home. ;D

You have have been Karma-ized!

Next, time I get up you're way, (which does happen from time to time) I'm definitely going to have to buy you a "Tasty" beverage.

The continuing saga of the UK£155 toolkit on Ebay ....I checked a few seconds ago, and the bid seems to have _De_creased to UK£7.07p!

No indication that someone had realised his major mistake and withdrawn his/her bid.

Curiouser and curiouser!

The two highest bidders had their bids cancelled by the seller because he was afraid of getting screwed.  Good move if you ask me, at least on the $1500 bid, but I might have let the $150 bid ride.  That one could have been legit, and it wouldn't even get that high unless someone else bid at least that much, too.

Hey Disco, that wasn't you, was it? Ha!

Nope! Even as much as I fully support the peaceful coexistance of karma and chaos, I don't often practice the two together (at the same time). (or on ebay) ;D

Oh B.T.W. ... I could never win one of these tools sets on ebay because I could never force my bidding finger to go for anything over $10.00 + $3.00 shipping. TRANSLATION= I'm both, cheap and know where the Sears store is.

I'm with you on that one.  And after I figured out you can get a nice, shiny new set for $15, I won't even bid on a crusty 30 year old set...even for a cheepie like me.

" I have bought many secondhand Honda's over the years (aren't they great?) but have never been lucky enough to have this with them. The toolkit seems to be the first thing to go missing. Anyway, bid now and grab a bargain. No reserve. "

:D So now that he finally is lucky enough to get one....he goes and sells it. FFS  ::)

I tell you again. If you need the Honda original tool kit that bad (for example, for a restoration), why not paying 75 bucks for a completely new set from Honda? (still available) If you just need tools to carry just in case, there are better and cheaper tools out there.
