Not trying to jack...I was contacted from someone on this thread and simply thought I would help shed some light on the difficult areas of the process...such as cutting etc.  Not trying to sell anything over domer...as I mentioned in my first line, I have no intentions of taking his design.

If anyone needs help or some pointers, shoot me an email.  I have been through this process already and would be a good source.

Every time I get sick for an extended period of time, I get a ton of things done, even if it is just wrapping up that last mission on Fallout.

Hope you feel better.

I should have said earlier, but Domer sent me a sample of my design a week or so ago. The quality of the vinyl he is using is top notch. He also has a good template to use for 750s now so the wait will be worth it when you get your custom faces in. Once he gets the printing method zeroed in it will be #$%*in.

really? i thought they were the same... i could swear the gauges im currently using are from a 350. 1 light hole and the cable comes straight out the back, where as my original 500 gauges have 2 light holes and the cables comes out at an angle. then again who knows where these gauges came from. but they are both the same size. now im confused.

ha! could never get into c.o.d., still not sure why halo appeals to me so much either? but damn if im not addicted...

so it looks like 550's had bigger gauges, but not sure what years had what. my 500 has the smaller suckers, while im finding some (or all?) of the 550s had the 3.5" monsters... can anyone help with this? what size are your gauges and what bike? might have to start another thread for this...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off topic.  used to be into Halo.  not a huge fan of the new one.  i prefer c.o.d.  Nazi zombies.  it's so much more fun.  don't really care for the multiplayer or storyline, strictly here for the zombies, ma'am   ;D

I too love to kill zombies. Never done it on C O D. Not even sure what that is. More of a fallout ghoul murder but that's neither here nor there.

I compared your PDF with my 550 faces and I think with resizing they should work, but I'll scan my faces tomorrow morning and email them to you just to double check.

Out of curiousity, what program are you using to design these? My printer guy said that that could be part of your "noise issue".

I'm actually using Microsoft expression design. Their illustrator knock off. It was free so I'm not complaining, but it was the issue with the noise. So they got cleaned up in Photoshop by my roommate (who also handles the printing) then added to the gauge faces. Basically the Microsoft program isn't designed to edit pics. I'm sure it can, but not for me! When I did the first print, I did some plain white and they came out perfect. So the next batch should be fine.

There was a 350F in my shop for a while and I remember thinking it's smaller gauges would look good on my bike. But maybe they were off something else? Everthing else on the bike was stock...Now you have me second guessing.

I compared a file he sent me to my 550 and the only thing that I see different than my factory gauges is the needle referance. However, with the 550 gauges the needle can be positioned anywhere as there is no lock on the needle post. Maybe a resize for the bigger gauges but that should be it.

so... from what i have gathered there are at least 3 different size/layout of the faces (i know there are more). the ones i started on are from my 500. little guys, about 3" across (guessing here as i dont have one in front of me) but they came off of something smaller. im guessing 350-400... and look like so.

they have 1 light hole, and the cable comes straight out of the back. so they sit very flat. the other set i have which i believe to be the stock 500 gauges look identical, except 2 light holes (i have to verify this again) in the back and the cable comes out at an angle. so they face the driver more by sitting at a different angle ( different brackets too). now im second guessing myself as to whether the 550 ever came with these smaller gauges. most pics im digging seem to show the larger 3.5" face, which is also the same size as the 750. im waiting on a scan of the larger 550 so i can layout the tick marks and get the sizing down. so far i have the 750, and the 500 for sure. i can easily rotate to the stock position too, i did the needle at 6 oclock so there would be room for the pin ups with out looking too cluttered...

socalenduro.... does the pic look like your tach?
