Later float valve on CB750K0
« on: November 13, 2010, 04:48:00 am »
I have just tried a K7 float valve 'needle' - (the one with the conical rubber/polymer  tip)  in my k0 carbs and it seems to seal OK I am currently rebuilding (re-plating all of the steel parts BZP at the mo). Will this work OK - seems to me it would seal better than the all metal ones.

Cheers

If they fit right there is no problem. Naturally you have to adjust the float levels.

Brilliant - think I will use them instead to avoid the dreaded leaks which can ruin your engine paint finish

One trick to help seat seal is to use valve laping compoud on q-tip to polish seat, just make shure to remove all residue of compound. Rubber tip float valve should work fine.

I generally lap with brasso or solvall. This does not work with rubber tips but I've revived dribbly brass tip float valves many times by lapping the needle to the orifice.
