eBay - NOS K0 Tach
« on: April 28, 2005, 06:43:29 PM »
I noticed a supposedly NOS tach listed on eBay for a K0, currently at $148 with a couple of hours to go. The only thing is, it shows a redline of 8,000 rpm. It's my understanding all the K0's redlined at 8,500 rpm. Mine shows 8,500 and I thought the 8,000 was set on later models. Anybody know definatively?

I saw it last night and wondered the same thing. According to my Honda CB750 Shop manual K1-K4 supplement, the "red zone" was changed to 8,000-9,500 RPM, the face was painted flat black to stop annoying sunlight glare issues and the lenses were changed from acrylic to glass for brake fluid resistance. So, it looks like one from a K1 or K2 model. For the K3 they moved the indicator lights to the handlebar clamp, elimiating them from the gauges.

I had a K0, and have a K1, and yes the redline was lowered from 8500 to 8000.  The case was also changed - the K1 has the lens below the edge of the case.

Just went back to check on the lens, it was below the lip of the case and get this, the final bid on this misrepresented tach was $287! I hope the bidder knew this was not a K0 and was still willing to pay what he/she did anyway.
