CB650 Carb Question
« on: November 20, 2010, 06:11:48 AM »
The carbs have been sitting for 5 years. All the "O" rings and bowl gaskets leak.  Will the "rubber" swell back up with gas in the carbs? If the answer is no, where can i get the "O" rings and carb ,air cut offs and accel pump kits?

Dont know where exactly just be sure to get the right kit.  79/80 had Mech and 81/82 had CV's and parts dont interchange.  If the orings are still in one piece you can use a little hylomar sealant.

Cycle-re-cycle has carb kits. Any opinions on the quality of their kits?

I never have bought a kit.  Always had enough parts laying around.   Kit has and should have them posted in one of her threads.

Rubber "O" rings will be dry as after 5 years so if they are not perished they could be reused with a tube of gasket maker, use the "never set hard" type. :)
I would be replacing the tiny accelerator "O" ring just cos it's a #$%* to relocate and it will be poked, also check the condition of the plunger mechanism on the bottom of the accelerator rod as one set I bought from the wreckers was so dry it crumbled when I removed it.

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

The hylomaris made for gas and never dries.  I used it on a set of carbs 12 years ago and last year I had them apart it was still gooy.
