Wow, Never had one like any of these mentioned. Ours didn't go as planned, but it was because my Dad wasn't feeling well. We were going to have OUR Thanksgiving with a friend and her boyfriend. We did this last year, after my Wife passed away the previous July (in '09). Well, Wednesday morning, about 10:30 I called my Dad to remind him that we would be doing Thanksgiving on Wed. and about 1PM. He starts telling me that he wasn't feeling good and didn't feel like going out. Well, when HE doesn't feel like going out, he IS sick! So, I go ahead up there and called the Doctor's Office on the way and had to leave a message for his nurse. Just after I got to my Dad's, the Nurse called and told me to take him to the walk in clinic. So I did, they finally got us in there and checked him, to include an xray. Said he had fluid in his lungs and needed to go to the hospital.SO, I take him to the hospital and they checked him in the ER and was going to admit him to the Hospital. Well, after they checked him out, it was decided that it wasn't quite what the 1st one had said and they gave him a prescription for antibiotics and sent him home. Bear in mind that my Dad did not get Lunch (the hospital DID give him something, but it was at about 3PM
and I didn't have anything to eat all day. So, the get together never happened and Karla and I ate Supper at about 7:30PM that night. Man, I slept like a log Wed Night and til about 9AM or so Thursday Morning. And, for the record, IF I were to ask if we could come down for Thanksgiving OR Christmas Dinner and such, the door would be open, waiting for us to get there. I guess I've had an unusual situation, as I was married 38 1/2 years (when Brenda passed away) and and, for the most part, had no problems with my In Laws and still am on good terms with them. Anyway,we'll shoot for the Christmas meal now. BTW, I cooked the meal for Thanksgiving (the Main part, the Turkey and home made Corn Bread Dressing and it was Pretty good at that!
