Anyone know if there is a shop here in the States that sells Tachibana helmets? These helmets are sweet and the website is all in Japanese. If anyone has info on where to get a helmet like this one please let me know.

That's what you use - tight packed shop towels.

I've used those rubber cups that go over the ends of chairs. You can usually find them at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Check your local Honda dealer, they can usually order them. Ask about the cost first tho.

Got a little done today. Finally got a roller! I was so excited about it that I did a few laps around the garage. Next is to get the engine finished up and back in…then on to the electrical system which I am dreading a little bit.

Also I have a bunch of extra parts that I am selling. Make me an offer if you are interested

Original gas tank with petcock

Rear turn signals along with the bar

Original rear shocks

Rear fender

Original Tachometer

Chain Guard

I also have the original exhaust system if anyone is interested. I don't have any pics of the pipes off but can take some if anyone wants them.

Quick question. Does anyone know the ratios I need for a speedo and tach for a 71 CB500?

Speedo options are 1:2 or 2240:60 and I have a 19in stock front wheel

I'm thinking the tach is 1:7 is that correct?

I actually ordered them from a local honda shop and had them installed there. I didn't want to be responsible for dicking up the brand new powdercoat on my rims.

LED's in the headlight is SEXY...specially with those forks dangling underneath....mmmm

Your project is looking great! Electrical turned out good for me, by laying out everything on a board at their proper distances...and wiring it there.... wrapping it...Then bringing it to the bike... when they mated it was like Zeus and a hairy goat making love...awkward yet subtly pleasing.

...I take that back... that's pretty disturbing....haha

Sorry, thats the only head on picture I have. I was reading comments on pipeburn and found this link https://brunodesignsart.com/Honda_XR650L_Project.php. I emailed the guy but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. Check out the other pictures though, they may reveal something I missed.

I got the engine back in a few days ago and finally got around to taking some pictures. Let me know what you think.

New Coils from Z1. Best price that I could find anywhere on the coils and Dyna S.

Engine is looking great. There are smudges that I need to wipe off and I need to clean the excess gasket sealer but other than that I am extremely happy with how it turned out. For anyone wondering I used the Engine paint kit from POR-15
