Keihin Type 1 550k Carb Linkage Photos Please
« on: November 23, 2010, 09:52:12 AM »
Looking for some up close and personal shots of the throttle linkage for 550K carbs.  Looks like they're Keihin Type 1, 022A carbs.  I've reassembled, but need to know where the felt rings and wedge washer go (in the one lateral notch in the rod?).  Also would like to confirm I put the throttle cable holder, heavy spring, and WOT stopper together right.  Intuitively, the way the linkage rod has the notches and slots in it, it would be impossible to do it wrong, but I'm sure I would be surprised.  Is just a light spray of WD-40 ok or a bit of grease for reassembly?

Also, it looks like the slides are bottoming out in the bore too early, making the idle adjust screw not reach the arm on the #4 carb, even when screwed all the way in.  Do I need to back out the adjuster screws more to allow the idle adjuster to come into play?  Or did I reassemble the linkage incorrectly?

I know that's a lot of questions for a simple set of carbs, but only so much information can be gained w/ the Clymer and search function.  I can take some photos tonight if that would help clarify my ?'s.  Thanks!

With a bit more searching, I found this photo

This looks very much like how everything is installed, but still have the idle screw issue and felt ring question.

the felt rings, if I rembemeber correctly, goes on the shaft between the arm where it enters the side of the carb and the cab body its self. it is the arm that opperates the needles and slides.

attached to the base of the arm is a cup, the felt rides in that cup and is as an insulator/ dust seal between the cup and carb body.

as for the bottoming out isuue the set screws with the pinch nuts adjust slide/needle heights this is also the location for adjustment when you synch your carbs.
