Well Its starting to get cold here in New Jersey & to keep me from going stir crazy this winter I figured I needed a winter project.
Last year much to my wifes dismay I dragged my 98 XR650l into my basement to replace the blown motor & it turned into a real labor of love & came out real nice. (now covered in mud again )
Before
After
Anyway I did not want to blow the motor in anything else so I figued I needed a project. I thought about USD forks & going supermoto on the XR but I like dirt so What would be fun cool & not break the bank
A Japanese Cafe Racer.
So what do I need.
1) wire wheels
2) solid motor
3) cheap (my budget was 750.00)
4) over 500cc
Here is what I got 1980 Honda CB650 looks pretty darn good for a 30 year old $500.00 bike IMO
Showed up guy was asking 900.00 started & ran if the choke was on all gears worked no smoke
Front brake was dragging bad
Oil leak (shown)
offered 500 He shot it down
offered 500 & told him my plans & assured him it would be loved & restored shot me down again
one last time offered 500 & told him I would send emails with the progress of the bike & he finally said OK
Here she is down in my basement getting ready to be torn apart.
