i was wondering if there is some kind of seal that goes in between the oil supply hose and the oil tank. i seem to have a leak but i dont wantto tighten the hose fitting any further in fear of damage to the tank. any fibre washers or sealant i should be using??? any help or insight is always appreciated. thanks

Check the parts diagram on bikebandit.com. I can't recall if there is a metallic "shim" washer or not.............. a day later, yes, there is a metallic shim seal on each one. I remembered and bikebandit didn't show any oil tank details when I checked.

You may be able to find one at a Checker Auto: they have copper sealing washers in their Oil Plugs section since O'Reilly took them over, at least around here. The OEM washer is soft aluminum, but copper will work, too.

looks like i got some rechecking to do on my oil hoses. they both have sitting in a box for about a year. washers probably fell off somewhere along the way.
i am running a muck with my oil system here. this is my first attempt at totaly resurrecting one of these bikes from the ground up. i have done plenty of work to mine (73k) and my dads (70k) but never really had to mess with this crap.
i have another post about getting the oil to start circulating too. the helpfulness of the members of the forum always blows me away. what a great resource to getting these old bikes to live another day. thanks for the help.
ha, i feel kind of honored that HondaMan posted on my question. thanks for that HondaMan. i hope someone is buying me your book for christmas.(not to be too greedy)
