Pike River coal mine disaster

29 men trapped after an explosion in the mine. my thoughts to the families involved.

Watching it on the news now, i can't believe they aren't doing anything to get them out yet.... ???   A bit disorganised ..!!!!

The time delay in getting the miners out is hard on the families/friends and the longer it goes on the greater the chances of them not being found alive. Unlike the miners who where trapped in the mine in Chile these guys are in a situation were methane gas is present (the chile mine was a mineral mine, mining gold and copper) and as such did not have the explosive potential that is situation has.
Dont get me wrong, I would love to see the miners out of there as quickly as possible, but there is little/no point in putting rescuers (some of who are fellow miners) at risk of loosing there lives as well.
All in all this is a very difficult and sad situation and we can only pray for a safe and happy out come for all concerned.
My prayer are certainly with them.

Yep, i understand the situation completely its just that the local authorities look ill equipped to deal with the situation.....

#$%*. that has been the biggest fear with the methane present. will be a sobering visit when I'm next over there.
