yeah im not sure how much those wires are going to be moving around much,  but it def wouldnt hurt taping the areas that would rub against the frame where the wires go over or under that  hollow frame peice.

That oval cutout in the frame is likely there for a reason.
To reduce weight maybe? That cutout is open on mine and the wires feed under like yours Ron, but the wires could feed through the oval without obstructing anything. The rubber feet that support the saddle rest on either side of the oval.
Well i was working from memory so maybe my memory was right? I'll leave them where they are. No rubbing issues. Actually Honda is pretty good about passing wires through frame openings, usually uses a grommet.

"MC your right about the 3 wires,  you can use a 2 prong relay for the turnsigals or a 3 prong from my quick research.

Thanks. So the homeless greenie would go on a 3 prong flasher? I was told I need a 3 prong flasher for my LED Turn signals, but never followed through with exactly what i was supposed to do to wire it up. Think its just a matter of plugging in the greenie? Won't hurt to try, give it the old "smoke test", guess i should buy a battery.   :D

As to this spring, yeah I'm hoping to wrap up around memorial day. But my busy work season is upon me, we'll see.

im going with the leds, i have one for the rear tail light at the moment,  so ill have to check out those solid state flasher relays at the local O'Reillys.

Nice job tango, looking good. If you're doing a rattle can job (Just got done myself), no matter what you do for primer and color, use Spraymax2000 for your clear top coat. It's about $25 can get two of them and put it on thick. You can buff it out to an awesome shine and it resists fuel and UV rays. Also follow Kongs tutorial:

I wished I would've read it before I did the deed to my tank and side covers.

I spent about $100+ on my paint job most of it on the clear coat, the paint was Duplicolor laquer in a quart can and 4 cans of primer, 2 etching, 2 filler. I also bought a couple Preval systems, I wouldn't use them again. You can't paint at any kind of angle and tanks and sidecovers are all different angles. (Paint color = a total of $50 which I could've saved myself half just buying duplicolor laquer in rattle cans). Buy lot's of sand W&D paper, 600 grit 1000 grit and 1500 grit. Buffing compounds as well. Plus striping, I guess I spent closer to $150! Still cheaper than  the $600+ I was quoted by two places and a member here and I am fairly satisfied with how it turned out.

Someday soon. My bike looks kind of funny right now with nice shiney white tank and sidecovers and a red and black seat. I just bought a new seat cover for it from Taiwan hope it gets here soon. Also the weather isn't cooperating with getting good pics right now. Either snow or pouring rain. Soon.

Houston we have LIFT OFF!!!!!!.........well as far as the wiring goes.  I wired up the rest of the bike except the front brake switch and all is working great,  NO SMOKE YET :P   starter works, which i didnt know before since the PO had hacked up the wires. So im pretty pumped to get the headlight front brakes and all put together and ready to fire it up as soon as i get the tank done.

aint purdy is it ha ha ............  i know the right bulbs about to blow.  ill be doing the leds i think,  i have led in the rear tail light already.

small hitch,  all works but the headlight.  fuse is fine but ive not had time to trace it down.  Marker lights all turn on and off with the right switch, but the headlight,  hi or low beam.  So close :)

I got the prob solved, but gotta figure out why one of the wires in the new harness is not bringing power to the left switch for the headlight.   But ill run a separate one if I have to.  Going to wait till i get the relay from hondaman and go from there. Ive been using the OLDHONDAMAN colored diagram and its been very very helpful even though the blue and black on the diagram look the same to me :P

looking forward to getting back to  preppin the tank and getting ready to paint it and the side covers.
is z1 the best place to get stripes for the tank?

Fired it up last night and ran fine,   small leak out of the #3 bowl drain, so ill pull it off and fix that.   Other than that the bike ran great, sounded great as i knew before I tore it down that it ran well.  Now onto the tank and side covers, getting them prepped for painting.

Thanks Stev-O,  ive seen that website. i think z1 is cheaper but we'll see.

yes i will be rattlin.  But not right away.  I have access to a nicely heated garage and its also dehumidified.   Once i tidy up the wiring, install the relays, then ill be fixing the 3 small dings on the tank.  The side covers are frankencovers. One last thing i need to order is a chain.

I have two small dents and was thinking to go the PDR route before paint.
