Can Someone Identify This Bike?
« on: November 27, 2010, 04:09:49 PM »
I got this photo of a build from a thread drift here on the forum and want to find out more about it. Who built it and what pieces is it made from.  It is one of the best proportioned builds I have ever seen.  Anyone? Bueller??  ??

FWIW, As if what I think matters (and it doesn't), I tend to be a more of a "stocker" fan.

This one is a real beauty. Tastefully done and very, very sharp!

IMHO, someone has built a bike to really be proud of.

Yeah, I must hasten say there are a lot of other really nice cafe's out there, too.

More pics?

Come on guys, you don't need a build thread for that..!!, shorty shocks and slide the forks through the bars, take some padding out of the seat and thats about it.....I just don't think there is anything special about that bike even though it looks good, simple mods toget that look.....don't expect it to handle to well...

It was bike of the month for January '09...I went back last week to find out! That bike is beautiful...that'll be the simple look that I'm going to go for with my '750...

That is a very tastefully modded, clean looking bike!

Seat is embarrassing, paint is nice, signals belong on a resto, header is too low and will scrape, yeah, it looks nice but the mods would take 1/2 a day on a clean donor.

OK, OK! You guys are some tough critics. I wasn't looking with a critical eye, I guess. I just love the clean aggressive stance. How could I make the seat less "embarrasing?" And what could I do to make it handle better? I just wanna find a good donor and try a modest mod to get a look near this. I think it rocks! Nice job, chrislib!!

I agree that it looks good.  Maybe it isn't especially practical in some ways, but to me that misses the point somewhat.  There is probably a little more to getting the right look than meets the eye, but I am no expert...  I mostly just ride stock bikes and try to maintain them in such a way that they don't break down.

Kudos to to the builder fwiw.

Well lowering a bike that i can scrape virtually everything from the engine down on will only ever make it worse, and that seat would only be good for a quick trip around town before you butt would start to ache. I can understand making a bike look good but i can't bring myself to compromise form over function , i like to know if i have to make some survival manoeuvres that my bike will perform to my expectations....

Nothing wrong with that bike.. mine used to look a lot like that but higher bars.. Retro might scrape it all day long, but that does not mean the owner will.  It truly has more ground clearance (about 2wice as much)..as my 836 did

The seat, it has  about as much as mine,on a strutted bike , (no shocks) and I have done 600 + miles in a day on it..

lets see how King customs bikes look..

If you like the look, go for it... build what you like..
