I'm getting incredibly excited about the whole concept of engine paint.

I know it is a dual over head cam engine and all but seeing as everyone is digging on engine paint at the moment I thought I would show you this one I just finished up for one of my local friends. There are a bunch of before and after pic's of it over on my website    www.dwmsracing.com    just click the gallery and then the cb900 photo album.

...before...

...and after!

WOW! What a transformation.
Can you give us a ballpark estimate of what that might cost us?

This one would have been a good choice for my motor, would fit nicely with my paint and frame paint..

Excellent work!

Love the engraving, love the paint choices.  What have you got in mind for the frame, tins, and rolling stock?  Engine without a bike is just that.  I am sure the bike will be as well appointed.  Can you share what this engine will go into?

Lone*x I have been anticipating this question about the bike itself and also as to how I would respond.  Let me first say that I am not being secretive, I build a variety of machines and have been taught and shown by my father throughout my lifetime that anything is possible however most people, including close friends who are here daily sometimes have a hard time grasping the concepts that I bring to life until they are completed and can visually see them. I am a small shop and build nearly everything by hand...most of which a lot of folks just do not beleive can be done as I do not have a machine shop and when I say built by hand I mean exactly that...so that being said I think a lot of the ideas I have going into this chassis build are so far off of the map that for those that would even beleive what is coming is even possible it would be a bit much for most to envision...and for the rest, they would probably just say I am full of it therefore I think it would probably be best if I just post the photos as I go.

I will say this, ALL work will be performed here in house by me, the frame will be a highly modified factory cb550 Honda steel unit, the tank will be a hand fabricated cafe piece of my design, the seat/tail will be a handbuilt one piece cafe style unit of my own design however I will not say of what material yet! the full exhaust will be hand fabricated of my own design, and as I have made a masssive decision change the intakes in the photo will not be used on this build as I will be hand fabricating new intakes as well. Suspension and rims will be one of two design that I am torn between at the moment.

I have been a motorcycle enthusiast and fabricator my entire life and I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen the carb/intake setup. exhaust. seat/tail unit, and most of what will be going into this chassis ever done, anywhere. Not to say that any of it has not been done but throughout my lifetime I have surely never seen or ever even heard of anyone using these ideas so naturally I am highly excited to get them done but as it will all be hand built it will take extensive time to complete, the tail section alone will run me a few weeks of spare time to complete so I will probably save it for close to last.

I really would love to thank all of you for welcoming and embracing me here! You are all a class act and I am proud to have joined you!

Well joeyputt, that just added to the anticipation. However after seeing your patents with the engraving, I have to say I believe you will produce some thing that is one of a kinda and truly lovely to look at.

Zaipai, I have owwned this bike since I was a child and she has served me faithfully. I just figured after all the memories we have shared it was time to return her to her former glory, at the least I owe her that. I have a lot of tricks I have been saving up that I wanted to put into different builds and as I will keep her forever I figured I might as well give them to and incorporate them all into her!

Thank you for your faith in me I promise I will not let you down!

I have to admit I pulled a bit of a sneaky and have been surfing a few of the larger forums to post this build in and I must say sohc4 is it for me! Thank you all for welcoming me in and for the honesty and respect! You are all a class act here which is exactly the type of place I was looking for! There are a lot of awesome builds going on here too which is just icing on the cake! I do post on a local board as well but consider me all in here at sohc4!

I have some cool stuff coming up soon!

We can be an impatient lot at times, however almost all of us know that this is some thing you have to take your time with to feel good about the build you do. So don't feel pressured at all to come up with some thing quick. I have been following 2 builds on here that have been going on for almost a year now. When they are done they will be bikes of beauty.

For me I really have everything worked out as to what I want and how I am going to build it all so it really won't take me very long to complete once I can get going on it. It will probably be just after Christmas before I will actually be able to set aside a lot of time to put into it but there are a lot of little things I need to build like this intake setup and the header so I can work on them a little and go ahead and get them done. I want to get the intakes done first definately so I can get the pic's up followed up second by the header! I am so excited about doing these two pieces you don't even know man! This is something I have wanted to do for a very long time! I am hoping to have her mocked up for a test ride within the next couple months but I am going to have to work hard to get there.

Dang, sounds like this is going to one heck of a project to watch.  I just don't know how to fuse being patient with the high level of anticipation you have dropped on us.  When you get started just be sure to feed us sharks a bunch of pictures.  We like pictures.

Really, I will be watching this closely.  It is going to take one heck of a chassis to do the engine justice.

Brother my own anticipation is really getting to me as well! I really have to hurry to get these intakes built so that I can get the pic's up! It is going to be one of those deals you either really like or do not like at all but I love it and think that most here will enjoy the concept.
