FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Yeah, it looks like golfing weather there!  In Utah we just got about 2 feet of snow.  No riding for us...

I added a underbrace to the rear frame section.

Any reason the rear is so long? Is it just a look your going for?

Yeah, it looks like golfing weather there!  In Utah we just got about 2 feet of snow.  No riding for us...

Brothers it has been beautiful here, high 70's to low 80's for the past couple of weeks! The grass turned green really fast, it was brown a couple of weeks ago and my rose bushes have a lot of new growth and the trees are getting ready to start leaves. This nice weather is one of the reasons I have been able to get so much work done!

I added a underbrace to the rear frame section.

Any reason the rear is so long? Is it just a look your going for?

.: Scott :.

Brother it is just the look I decided to go with, I started out with the idea of a nice restoration with a pretty engine, then I changed designs to a cafe racer but after I decided to reverse port the engine and use the modern front suspension, brakes, and rims this build got away from what I consider to be a classic cafe racer so I made the final decision to finish this build with more of a long and low pro street look which is why I raked the front end a little and built the extended rear frame section.

The bike is not actually quite as long as it looks, some of it is a visual effect caused by all of the original rear framing being removed and the straight line of the new rear frame section. The wheelbase from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle is 63 inches and the overall length of the bike is 7 feet 1 inch with the rear tire in the middle of its adjustment, with these measurements the wheelbase is 7 inches longer than stock but the overall length is only 3 inches longer than stock as the rims I am using are both 17 inch which is smaller than stock and I am using lower profile tires than stock as well.

Any reason the rear is so long? Is it just a look your going for?

Hahahaha!

I added a underbrace to the rear frame section.

When I built the frame I lowered the bike so that the oil pan is roughly five inches off of the ground so I had to cut a couple of inches out of the kickstand, it is still rough and needs cleaned up more but here is what it looks like.

With that work being done here is how she looks.

I went back and corrected it but this post should have read that the oil pan is 5 inches from the ground not 6 inches.

Its looking great Joey. Thanks for the update on the mods.. Your right it does look (for the moment) longer then stock, however 3" is no big deal. Once the seats on it will shorten the look some I am sure.

I've gotta say, I think you need more triangulation on that rear suspension that what you're getting with that one little bottom brace.

It has been another busy week here at the shop so I have not been able to work on my bike until this weekend, it rained yesterday so I did some more sanding and started polishing my covers. Here are a couple photos of the first one that I almost have finished.

Here is a photo of the cover before I did any engraving or polishing.

Most of you have seen the engraving but here is how it looks after I started polishing it. It was hard to get a good photo of this cover, the gold behind the kings head is a reflection of the light on my ceiling, etc.

Thank you Brother Zaipai!

This photo is a little better than the first one I posted, I took this photo in the shade so it still does not show how bright the cover is.

Nah....  you can tell how bright it is.   You can see a ceiling and a door jamb in there.  That's what I call bright.

Can't wait till this build is on the road.  Won't be another like it...that's for sure!
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Hey Joey,
DO you have a pro photobucket acount?  You must be getting close to the bandwidth limit by now.

How'd you get the color in there?

Brother BlindJoe after I engraved the cover I painted it with the same burnt copper color that is on the valve cover on the engine, after the paint dried I sanded the paint off of the cover and the paint that was in the engravings stayed there, it is VHT engine paint so it is gas and oil resistant.

Brother q2418130103p I am not sure, I will have to check to see which account we have there? My Brother may have upgraded it, how many photos does a regular account hold?

For the rear brakes I have decided to use this mcp mini pro lite dual line setup with a two piece two piston rear caliper, most of you are probably not familiar with them as we run them on our speedway racing karts but I thought they would be great for this project as they are small and clean.

so just for my own piece of mind and general curiosity , i just checked my photobucket account

they allow you 10gb of of bandwidth per month ,(that includes all your pics AND the bandwidth required for others to view them) and it resets every month

my account has 935 photos 90% of them are high resolution , and 13 videos with 7 of those high resolution (720p and up)

that currently is at 1.4gb (14% full)     ... so i don't think i will be needing a pro account for quite some time

I was curious about the bandwidth, not the storage space.  My account is at 8GB used out of an available 10GB and my thread is no where near as popular as this.

So you have 1.4gb of space used, but how many GB of bandwidth have you used?  It is listed under account settings - account stats.

I just checked and mine is now at 9.5GB out of the available 10GB, luckily it resets in 2 days.
