New uses for obsolete items.
« on: November 26, 2010, 01:13:57 PM »
I re-strung an old set of wind chimes yesterday while I waited for the turkey to be available for consumption.

I like finding new life for obsolete items, like the inspection sticker mounting plate I had so they did not put the sticker on my front forks I spent hours polishing.

Anyone else have an adaption of something that became obsolete that prevented it from going into the landfill?

The house came with a "Primestar" satellite dish on a pole in the yard. By removing some parts from the mount, I was able to point the dish straight up. The local birds enjoy their birdbath.

The pole being set in concrete was what prevented the whole mess from going to the dump.

sorry no pix.

Harvest the magnets while you're in there.  A myriad of uses.

Hard drives...

My current computer is a Sony, about five years old. It has 4 hard drives 3  harvested from prior computers.

I keep backups of my year-end business records on them and a huge collection of pictures I have taken. Even if I set my camera on max resolution of 10MP I think I will be able to store raw photos till I retire.

I used to put a battery operated clock behind a CD when CDs first came out.
