Petcock leak
« on: December 12, 2018, 04:17:10 AM »
Hey guys

My 750K4 petcock is slowly leaking
Two questions, how does the tap attatch to the tank?
Secondly how many seals need replacing, is it just an O ring to the tank or much much more?

Under the removable float bowl and filter screen there are two screws with fiber washers that connect the petcock to the tank. They can cause a leak if bad. The top of the petcock where it mounts also has a rubber gasket. Also behind the petcock handle if you remove the two tiny screws on the face plate is a rubber 4 hole gasket that when bad can also cause a leak.
Where is it leaking at exactly, through the carbs or externally out around the petcock ?

There are seal kits available from I think K and L .. blue box. And petcocks
I tried repairing two of my originals but they seemed to keep leaking. Ended up replacing with  the after market.
If you are leaking gas into your motor it could hurt it  watch you oil level.
I think mine developed cracks internally,  causing them to leak.

I just had this problem and only found out when i filled the tank with gas... but honestly the easiest and best fix would be a whole next petcock. I bought one for like 15$ on 4into1.com
